Surfboard Warranty

The majority of the surfboards sold on Boardshop.co.uk are finished by hand. All surfboards are warranted to be made from the finest materials to the highest specifications of all the suppliers we work with.

Surfboards are not guaranteed against breakage, creases, cracks, heat damage, broken fin boxes, dings, compressions or discoloration, however caused, simply because the circumstances are out of our control. Surfing places huge demands on equipment; even small waves or impact can create sufficient pressure to snap or crease a surfboard.

In addition a small insignificant impact on a surfboard can lead onto a much bigger issue if the damage is not repaired fully.

Warranty Resolution

All the legal stuff to one side we are surfers just like our customers, and hate to see damage to any surfboard. All reported issues with surfboards will be considered.

Taking the above into consideration, if you feel your surfboard suffers from a manufacturing or workmanship defect please email info@boardshop.co.uk. When emailing, please include your order number and a detailed explanation of issue and clear digital photos of entire top side of the board, entire bottom side of the board and of any specific area(s) of concern.

Boardshop reserves the right to make final determination of the warranty status in its sole discretion. If a defect exists, will choose, in its sole discretion, whether to (1) repair the board at no charge, or (2) exchange the board with a product that is functionally equivalent to the original product.

Putting a tail pad on the board will not affect a potential warranty. However the cost of any accessories on the board, or bought with the board, are not covered.

Summary of Surfboard Warranty

All surfboards are warranted to made from the best materials to the highest known standards. Because of the nature of the sport of surfing, no guarantees against damage or breakage of surfboards are offered or implied.

This does not affect your statutory consumer rights, which are fully recognised by Hardcloud Ltd trading as Boardshop.co.uk

Wetsuit Warranty

Hi there.

We’ve put together this short guide to let you know how to go about making a warranty claim if you think your wetsuit is faulty and still covered under either the manufacturer’s warranty or our extended warranty offer.

The first thing to consider is whether you’re suits is really faulty or whether it’s been used to death!

Wetsuits don’t last forever, most of the team here surf 2-3 times a week if it’s on and realistically we’ll get two seasons out of a suit whether it be summer or winter.

The better you look after your suit the longer it’ll last, rinse it out when you’ve used it, hang it up to dry, don’t leave in direct sunlight.

If you’ve worn your suit continually for weeks or months on end it will wear out and won’t necessarily be a warranty issue.

That being said read on, we’re always happy to answer any questions you might have, contact us at info@boardshop.co.uk

Warranty information

  • All wetsuits bought at Boardshop are eligible for our Extended Wetsuit Warranty, which goes over and above what the manufacturers offer.
  • If the wetsuit is found to be defective under normal use and proper care, Boardshop will return your wetsuit to the supplier for repair or replace the wetsuit for you.

The decision to replace or repair a product is made by the Boardshop Warranty Department after receiving the wetsuit back with us, we cannot 100% confirm a warranty until we have the wetsuit back with us for examination.

Defective product should be returned clean and dry, correctly rolled, postage paid, with a copy of proof of purchase/receipt and with your returns number. Wetsuits returned wet or dirty or without a copy of the purchase receipt will NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY.

What is covered under a manufacturer's warranty and Boardshop's Extended Wetsuit Warranty

The wetsuit warranty will cover failures in a wetsuit deemed to be failures in the manufacturing process or faults caused by material failure, here’s a list of what is covered

  1. Split seams either due to glue failure or stitching failure
  2. Zip failure where the zip mechanism has failed
  3. Internal delamination of the wetsuit lining
  4. Peeling knee pads
  5. Failure of taping internal or external as long as the suit has been looked after

Examples of warranty claims that won't qualify

  • Fading from sunlight
  • Logos rubbing off due to friction with board or other item
  • Peeling of internal tape where the glue has turned white, this is caused by uric acid ie the suit has been peed in and not rinsed well enough
  • Wetsuits over over 24 months (from date of original purchase)
  • Warranty request without receipt/proof of purchase

Wetsuits that have been repaired at home or by anyone besides repair companies recognized by the wetsuit brand concerned wetsuit or where:

  • Re-gluing of seams using Aqua Seal, or like product
  • Patching of seams using duct tape, rubber patches, or like product
  • Re-sewn seams with sewing machine or by hand using needle and thread
  • The wetsuit is clearly worn and at the end of its useful life; some symptoms include but are not limited to:
  • Cracked, dry neoprene.
  • Wetsuits purchased from brands directly. We cannot provide warranties to products purchased from any other retailer other than boardshop.co.uk, or our associated Amazon and eBay business accounts. (Only wetsuits purchased directly from boardshop.co.uk qualify for the extended wetsuit warranty)
  • Wetsuit damage caused by anything other than defects in materials or workmanship i.e. finger nail damage to smooth panels of the wetsuit
  • Wetsuits used in commercial, rental, teaching or instructional programs or activities
  • Wetsuit damage caused by extended or excessive exposure to sunlight ie faded colours
  • Improper handling or storage, or failure to follow treatment instructions ie deep creases in the neoprene panels where its been folded badly

How do you return your wetsuit to Boardshop?

Please make sure that your wetsuit if used is washed thoroughly, dirt/sand free and completely dry. Estimated dispatch times are outlined on the board builder. These times are meant as a guide only.

Delivery charges may apply to your shipping destination and will only be collection when the final balance is to be paid.

Please note custom orders can’t be changed once submitted to the factory.

Please note that all custom surfboard orders do not include fins.

Please bear in mind that custom built boards are finished by hand and occasionally there may be a cosmetic blemish or two, this kind of thing won’t affect the performance of the board but please do cut the guys a little slack on this front.

Please note adding a resin tint may add additional time to your order.

Returns. Please be aware that cosmetic blemishes, logo colour / position, and variations on spray/resin colour do not constitute a faulty item. Thus, we will not be able to offer returns on custom surfboards on any of these grounds.

Unless agreed in advance, full payment must be received within 2 weeks of notification of completion of a custom board. If payment is not received, the deposit will be forfeit, and the board will be returned to free stock.

Please note we do not charge for shipping at the time a custom surfboard is ordered. However, our standard surfboard shipping costs apply to all custom surfboards. Shipping costs will be added to the final balance and can be seen here.
