All New is the Slater Designs Sci-Fi 2.0 surfboard in the Ibolic construction. This updated version of the globally popular original Sci-Fi has been tweaked and refined to accommodate a wider wave range and more specifically improve performance at both the lower and upper ends of its ends of its wave spectrum.Essentially more volume has been packed into a shorter length and the wide point has been shuffled forward of centre allowing the Sci-Fi 2.0 to be ridden an inch or 2 shorter, thereby improving its performance for the average surfer in smaller less than perfect conditions. The adjustments to the tail and rocker are significant; the tail has been pulled-in so the 2.0 copes far better with chop and still maintains the speed of the original but with more control than before. The new rocker which is similar to the Cymatic loosens up the tail and generally improves performance in quality waves without sacrificing any small wave prowess. This latest addition to the Slater Designs line-up looks like a really usable shortboard for the intermediate guy or girl in average to good quality waves. The 2.0 would definitely fit-the-bill if you're looking for a good all-rounder, a board for pretty much any conditions you're likely to encounter on your home patch or on your travels.Yes, I'm gonna say it...the Sci-Fi 2.0 has plenty of 'one board quiver' credentials; with great small wave performance and all the tools to excel in waves of significance in the 5 to 6 foot range. If you like travelling light or would rather keep things simple and bond with a single board you could do a lot worse than the Sci-Fi 2.0.The Sci-Fi 2.0 shortboard is destined for great things in 2020, and once again the winning combination of Tomo, Kelly and Firewire's amazing construction looks to be a winner.Ibolic construction is a leap forward in surfboard manufacturing with the best elements of LFT and Helium combined. This Patent Pending technology is built into the core blank construction to create preloaded structural flex together with structure strength and durability. The FRK+ has Fibre Reinforced I-Beam high density foam stringer down the centre with Parabolic Rail Springers from nose to tail. There are three independent points for flex control and break resistance. I-Beam ensures firmness underfoot and unparalleled strength. The two Parabolic Rail Springers enable even flex and give great recoil through your turns. I-BOLIC Technology is an engineering feat that builds performance into the core of the surfboard there are no external carbon layups or heavy laminations with this cracking tech. What this all means is that get a board that is stronger than a helium board and has the feel of an LFT with even faster recoil, this tech is really nicely weighted too- you'll surfer faster and harder all in the knowledge that the Ibolic tech is Firewire's toughest yet.Why not trade in your old or unwanted board against a new Slater Designs?
