This latest Matt Biolos and Donald Brink colab is one of the best yet, such a good board and now in the 'Dang difficult to ding and environmentally nicer' Lib Tech build, its a win win situation.

The Micks Tape is a collaborative tri fin project by Matt Biolos and artistic, innovative South African hand shaper Donald Brink. Brought together through Stab’s Electric Acid Surfboard test, the task was to build 3x world champ Mick Fanning a 5 3” that would work in the wide variety of waves on hand in the Maldives. Knowing Mick’s power and precision the boys created an asym craft that would hit Mick’s volume sweet spot, pack in maximum motor and would rail through turns, fit into tight pockets and glide through flats and love power sections...they won! For our symmetric version we went up to a 5 4” as our base size and offer larger sizes to open up the door to every day surfers who want a bit more paddle power but still want that mix of spontaneous freedom and power the board was created to manifest. Designed to be ridden as a thruster and effective much shorter than your standard shortboard (even your fish) choose a volume you can be comfortable with and push yourself to fit into new parts of the wave like Mick did. This refined outline enables the Micks Tape to perform more akin to a regular shortboard; a playful and easy paddling 'go-to' every-day board that'll thrive in 90% of the conditions most of us encounter at home and on our travels.

The Micks Tape is built in the classic Lib Construction, a more responsive feel, better flex and happier surfers all round. Using 31 brand-new components to the surf industry and calling on 30 years of experience constructing environmentally friendly surfboards, skateboards and snowboards, it was inevitable that Lib Tech were going to produce some remarkable surfboards using this ground breaking, environmentally friendly manufacturing process. Each of the Lib Tech surfboards is handcrafted in the USA with an unwavering focus on building THE toughest high performance surfboards in the world with a commitment to operating in an environmentally responsible manner.

The construction process uses a Nitrogen cell Foam (25-40% recycled content) core for maximum strength and pop. The foam is closed cell, completely waterproof and won't absorb water.
Hexzylon Fibre Foam Skin, this is a smooth, strong, impact and ding resistant layer with the signature Hex pattern.
Next comes the unique Woven Basalt Fibre which is additive free super strong and resists heel dents.
The Bio-Matrix Resin is super strong and environmentally friendly with the best flex qualities of traditional PU and a longer lifespan than Epoxy.

Lib Tech surfboards are fitted with the lightest and toughest fin boxes on the market. They also use Sprock Blocks at the tail to add even more durability to the most fragile areas on the board. Even the leash plug has been given the same attention with 6061 T6 Aircraft aluminium pins and lightweight fibre composite cups.
