Description

Introducing the Form Flow Stik Mini surfboard, the latest addition to the Flow Stik family. The Flow Stik Mini was born out of sheer demand; firstly from Alan Stokes who wanted an out-and-out groveller and secondly by Form fans looking for a shorter and wider version of the original FS to thrash about in smaller and weaker summer waves.

Alan and Luke Hart got their heads together over the shaping app and designed the Flow Stik Mini; a squat little board that has got summer-fun written all over it. Alan took a prototype 5'6 with around 32 litres for test-ride and emerged after his first surf genuinely excited, claiming to have "never gone so fast" in knee to waist high waves.

As with all surfboards the devil is in the detail, and while the FS Mini could be compared to a multitude of other grovellers out there (think Lost Bean Bag, CI Average Joe etc) there is a fair bit more going on with the outline and concaves on the Mini. The rocker is low throughout for paddle speed and the curvy outline maintains manoeuvrability and allows it to fit into smaller pockets in 'pockety' beach break conditions. Single concave in the nose blends into a deep double out through the fins. The concave in the nose creates lift and speed as soon as you take off, and the double in the final third assists in rail-to-rail transitions and 'squirts' the board forward especially when rigged with quad fins! If you're pushing the upper limits of the Flow Stik Mini in head-high surf or you need a more solid and predictable feel, stick with a set of thrusters.

Target conditions for the Flow Stik Mini would be sub-par waves in the ankle to shoulder high region with the absolute sweet spot being waist to chest high (as long as the face isn't too steep for the wide tail).

Form's Flow Stik Mini is an inclusive surfboard with a place in a wide variety of surfers quivers. If you're looking to size down from a longboard or larger learner board the FSM is a brilliant option offering a stable platform and a forgiving first foray into the world of shorter surfboards. Guys and girls who rip should follow Alan's example and add a few litres to the FS Mini over their normal HPSB, never forgetting Rob Machado's famous quote that "foam is your friend".

Form Surfboards is a collaboration involving 3 different parties. The guys here at Boardshop were super keen to offer a premium UK handmade surfboard brand with an emphasis on quality utilising premium quality materials. Alan 'Stokesy' Stokes (probably the most successful and well known surfer in the UK) working alongside genius British shaper Luke Hart (the man behind 4th surfboards) have teamed up to produce an incredible collection of surfboards with something for every level of surfer and any conditions.

This project is hugely exciting for all involved and we think the guys have absolutely nailed it, producing some of the coolest looking, well priced, UK hand-made and premium finish shortboards, hybrids and mid-lengths available today.

If we don't have the Form surfboard you're looking for, or the stock dims don't work for you, just give us a ring on (44) 01243 674250 or email info@boardshop.co.uk and we'll happily discuss a custom order for you.

The team at Boardshop are absolutely stoked to be stocking these beautiful boards and would happily consider taking your old or unwanted surfboard as a trade-in against a new Form shape.

Charlie was excellent at advising me on my new board and accessories. He was very patient with me umming and arring about what to go for. Decided on Form Flow Stik and the board looks excellent. Can’t wait to get out on the water!

Perfect
I love this board. I’ve surfed for 30 years. I’m 46, 6’2 and not particularly fit. I’ve already got a fish which is fun and gets into waves really easily but I thought I wanted something that was going to be super easy so I thought that I’d try this a bit larger than recommended. I bought a 6’4. It’s no joke to say that this gets into waves like a mini mal but turns like a short board.

Amaizng short board for small waves
I bought this board for the slightly larger days down the Witterings. The waves in the Witterings are mainly a long board wave but this shot board holds it own. It has the feel and stability of a mal but the manoeuvrability of a short board. Easy to paddle on to waves and great speed when on them. I have used the board twice now in 4-5ft and also 2ft and the board performed great both times. Highly recommend this board. Also big shout out to Matt at boardshop who was really helpful which led me to purchasing this quality piece of equipment

Awesome board
Love this little board works well in 3 to 5 ft waves. Easy paddle and nice and wide for stability. Turns on a pin and glides down the line, one to consider for the back of the car and quick hops in the water at lunch :)

Cant fault it!
Got this board last September for the bigger swells and as a step up. Was a bit worried getting the 6.6 because I thought the volume would be to high, but after chatting to Luke at toy factory and the guys at boardshop I went for it. It's honestly blown my mind! It's made surfing heavier, steeper punchy waves way easier but it goes it small conditions as well. I only ride as a twin with the power twins, and considering the length you can still do snaps if you're right at the back, or big carves! Love it, pretty much all I ride now.

Exactly what I have been looking for.
I have been searching for a board suitable for my daughter who has outgrown her 5'10 fish ( it's too small now she's got bigger. )
This met all the requirements with the bonus of it coming in a gorgeous blue colour.
Looking forward to seeing trying it out.
Excellent packing and advice as usual from the boardshop team.

Lots of fun
I brought this board to take to Sri Lanka for a month and am now on my last day of trip, the board has had a lot of use! First thing to say is it catches waves great, in a busy lineup I often feel like I've got the edge in terms of paddle and can sit a few yards further out than if I was on a short board. I was surprised how fast it felt on the first few rides. It turns great and its helped me nail some nice cutbacks. Before this i was on a more traditional JS shortboard and its fair to say (and probs obvious) you can't 'throw' this board around as much but I haven't missed that and you just naturally take a different line. I have had so much fun on this board, plus it's a great travel board as it works in so many conditions (which is why I went for it). Have had no worries about using it on some of the steeper reef breaks here, but have gone for a longboard when possible if it's under waist height. The finish on the board is quality, it's not the strongest board ever and has had to be repaired once already and has quite a few pressure dings but I can live with that as it has been through the wars. Overall I'm pleased with the board and cant wait to take it back to Cornwall and try it out at home.
