Description

The brand new colab between Torq and Channel Islands in the excellent X-Lite epoxy construction has landed. The first model in this colab is the Torq X Channel Islands M23 surfboard. The M23 has been one of CI's most popular boards so its great to be able to offer it in this excellent construction. The M23 model is truly a performance hybrid model that really appeals to and fits a multitude of surfers in size and ability. Shaped by Britt Merrick, the M23 comes with a tidy pulled in nose outline, which runs with medium to full rails, giving a margin for error when riding the board. The round tail provides control and hold while giving performance with the harder, sharper rail edge in the final third of the board. You'll find the M23 holds foam central to the board, creating a fast paddling board to hoover up waves from 2ft to 6ft with effortless style.

Testament to the shape of the M23 is how versatile this board is. Suited to waves from beach breaks, reefs, points and even wave pools. Anyone on an M23 will rival the wave count of people on out and out mid lengths while having performance to match shortboards. Channel Island's have kept the board simple with fin plug options too, this is a thruster set up and suited to this. Use the AM template fins are the perfect pairing with this board.

The entry rocker is relaxed which helps with general paddling and wave catching. The exit rocker is on the fairly standard, not agressive but there is enough there to get the board turning. The fuller outline provides lots of surface area which equals glide and speed. The rails are fuller but somewhat angular with a lower apex providing lift and control. This style of board is great for sloping waves where there's not a lot of power of shape and it holds its own in better stuff too. It will work for someone coming off a bigger board looking to progress or for a better surfer looking to up their wave count or have a more relaxed surf.

The X-Lite tech is a Torq Epoxy technology developed specifically for performance boards. This is lighter, stronger and more Eco than a traditional PU/Polyester board, now with a 50% thinner Shield Skin for weight reduction. This innovative technology is used exclusively on the X-Lite Channel Islands models; the best selling Pod Mod and all new M23. X-Lite technology now features an additional wood layer sandwich between the two deck biaxial layers. This wood composite is incredibly ding resistant but without adding stiffness usually associated with strength. We're super stoked to be adding this surfboard to our range, it represents proper performance and great value. This unique combination of advanced materials and high-tech construction produces a board that performs at the very highest level, offering lightweight shapes with a responsive flex (missing on some cheaper Epoxy boards) but also makes for a really durable and strong surfboard. We love the lightweight, tough construction and most importantly how it surfs. We feared it would be too stiff in this type of epoxy build but thats not the case at all, its got really even flex so it deals with chop etc really well.

As a premier Torq and Channel Islands stockist, we pride ourselves on giving what we think is good solid advice without any of the over-eager sales driven BS often encountered by our customers elsewhere.

We're happy to consider taking your old or unwanted board as a trade in against a surfboard, so If you have any questions about this we'd be delighted to answer them and advise on any potential board choices or enquiries you might have, just drop us an email to [email protected] or call us on 0044 (0) 1243 674250

Perfect For Travel - X-Lite Construction

The surfboard manufacturing process prioritises precision, eliminating shaping and sanding for controlled foam density and resin content. It minimises waste by using dry cloth and applies resin with precision. Biaxial cloth and high-density EPS ensure durability, while eco-conscious practices like solar power and local sourcing enhance sustainability. Boards are fast, durable, and responsive, with a feel similar to PU but with added stiffness from carbon, making them easy to transition to.

Perfect performance mid length
Having failed to replace my old sadly broken CI Mid - I was assisted by the Boardshop team to get the CI M23- same length as my old faithful CI Mid (7’- I am 6’4”) . The board is insane - all the paddle power of a mid length but with way more hold and drive and much easier to turn. Would recommend for anyone wanting a more manoeuvrable mid length or a slightly easier shortboard

CI x Torq M23 — The Board That Made Me Believe Again ????????
This stick is pure witchcraft. Channel Islands and Torq clearly made a deal with Poseidon himself when they shaped this thing, because it rips harder than my ex’s opinions.

7’2 of pure chaos and joy. I’m 119 kilos of dad bod power, been surfing 25+ years, and this thing still had me feeling like I just landed a sponsorship deal with my local bakery.

Took her out at Fistral in 35–45mph gusts — seagulls were flying backwards, my hairline was in full retreat — but this board? This board laughed in the face of the wind gods and said, “Let’s dance.”

Caught everything I paddled for. Floats like a longboard, turns like it’s had one too many espressos. I even threw a cheater five, and for a moment… I saw God. Or maybe that was just the sun through the spray — hard to say.

Duck dives? Easy. Style points? Off the charts. It looks so good I nearly put it on Tinder.

Yeah, the box arrived looking like it had been in a pub fight, but the board came out smiling.

If you’re thinking about buying one — do it. Your future self, your stoke levels, and every wave you meet will thank you.
This board sings. ????????

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Huge thanks to the guys at Boardshop for their great advice and for recommending the Torq M23. As an older, low-average surfer who spends time at The Wave Bristol, this board has been a brilliant fit.

Great Board Amazing Service
The team at Boardshop are absolutely spot on! Super helpful and friendly advice, all the board reviews they have really helped me narrow down what I was looking for and the select the right fins and tail pad. With next day delivery!!

I have never bought new before so have been limited to what I can find second hand, so picking for the first time was a bit of information overload. All the videos made it easy to narrow down what I needed.

The 7ft CI M23 Torq is perfect for what I was looking for, a longer board with more volume to up my wave count on a normal day and make the most of the small days. Out twice this weekend, first time waist to chest high second time low knee to thigh. I was catching 90% of everything I went for and the board gave me more time to get into the wave and slow my thinking down to focus on technique.

Class weekend, thank you Boardshop

For reference I am 6ft medium build and intermediate level (if I’m being generous), on a good day I can manage a 5’10 Groveller.

Top notch service!
Felt really well adviced and comfortable ordering at Boardshop.
Ordering from Denmark (EU) with the whole Brexit bla bla, they also did a really good job explaining the whole procedure, and it all turned out to be really easy.
The board was ordered on a Friday and delivered, securely on my address in Denmark the following wednesday.

Torq CI M23 X-Lite 6’8”
Board arrived within 4 days, which is good for Guernsey. Really well packed, as always by the Boardshop crew, so the board made the trip across the channel without a scratch. Board weight is lighter than PU, but heavier than epoxy, which might not be a bad thing, as light epoxy boards can be hard work when there is strong winds or chop. Unfortunately, it has been flat since the board arrived, so just need to “add some water/waves”.
