The Lost Lazy Toy 2 takes everything we loved about the original and makes it better. A longer, leaner update with refined rails and a diamond tail, it’s the perfect choice for surfers who want glide, paddle speed, and flow, without sacrificing turning or drive. Ideal as a first shorter board or an everyday hybrid, the Lazy Toy 2 thrives in anything from thigh-high mush to overhead peaks. Perfect for small, everyday UK conditions.

The Lazy Toy 2 easily found it's way into our best boards for summer surf. Find out why...

Our Guide to the Lazy Toy 2

Who It’s For

  • Surfers ready to size down from mid-lengths

  • Intermediate surfers looking for a more forgiving shortboard

  • Experienced surfers wanting an easy daily driver that still rips

What Makes It Work

  • Longer & Leaner: A sleeker outline than the original Lazy Toy surfboard, with a pulled-in diamond tail and more refined rail for smoother rail-to-rail transitions

  • Easy Speed: Low rocker, wide nose, and generous volume under the chest mean earlier entry, less effort, and more waves

  • Surprising Control: Medium rails through the front and firmer rails ahead of the fins let you turn without having your back foot jammed right over the tail

Conditions & Versatility

  • Wave Range: From knee-high slop to well overhead

  • UK Friendly: Designed to thrive in crumbly, short-period waves, exactly what we surf most days

  • Ideal Use: From mellow summer sessions to solid autumn days, this board covers 80% of the UK wave calendar

Fin Setup

  • 5 Fin Boxes: Ride it as a quad for speed and looseness, or thruster for control and tighter arcs

As a new Dad and reluctant gardener, middle age has crept up and hit me with a bang! Long gone are short performance boards and long sessions, I had to fess up and change my quiver, led by this fantastic groveler of a board, ideal for south coast swells, all-rounder heaven :)

Perfect!
As a somewhat older surfer, I could use some extra paddle ease. The Lazy Toy 2 definitely delivers. And it's perfect for a surfing session on the Dutch North Sea. Stable yet maneuverable. Very happy with the purchase and with the good service from Boardshop.

An absolute blast. Period.
I got back into surfing in my 40s about a year after a long hiatus. After 12 months on a 7’6’’ flow stick (superb board) I got in touch with Boardshop for a trade in. While I was looking at a smaller flow stick, Ian, who is always on point when providing advice, suggested I’d go for one of these. Once again, he was 100% right and I’m happy I listened.
The board is a blast to surf.
I only rode it 4 times at the wave Bristol but I’m more than happy with it and can tell I will be enjoying it for a long time.
I like the volume, which truly seems to disappear when surfing, and the way it reacts to the slightest input. Also, I really enjoy the way the board begs you to surf it!
Maybe it’s me, but it seems like it doesn’t like being trimmed all that much, while still capable of it. Instead, it wants to be turned from rail to trail, flowed and transitioned. It just responds. It took me a few tries to get it going as it feels totally different from the flow stick. As soon as you look at the two boards in detail you appreciate how different they are and how volume can be made to handle radically differently different based on board design.
Overall, the Lazy Toy feels like a great board to progress on and I can already tell it will clock quite a few miles on trips around Europe. Stoked.
Thank you Boardshop for the assistance and careful consideration. I’ll be back for more.

At last, the right board
I'm in my late 50s, and have suffered with chronic back the last few years. I do surf regularly though (between Portugal and Sydney). Finding a board that is both easy to paddle and manoeuvrable has been a challenge. Well, this is it, probably the best board I have owned for that purpose.

Ian suggested it after a few attempts and it is epic. It covers off about 90% of what I will ever ride, from small waves that would typically need a long board or foamie, right through to decent 4-5' waves with some power that you really want to turn on. I feel like I'll own this board for life now, no need to look for anything else. FWIW I'm 5'10, 76kg and went with a 6'10 mid length size.

Thanks team.

Everything you want, ultimate one-quiver-board
Writing this review after just 2 sessions with this board. Weak, small Belgian North Sea 1ft and then 2ft days. Even in these conditions, this board could easily catch the majority of waves.
I can only imagine the possibilities of this board in better waves... Look no further if you're not sure which board to purchase. The title of 'board of the year', was not stolen.

The help before deciding on a board, the help during the ordering process, and the customer service while waiting were great, Boardshop know what they're doing, they know any board like the palm of their hand.

Unfortunately, for me, I had to wait 4 months for this board, but these are side-details which have nothing to do with the competence of Boardshop, nor the quality of the board.

in summary; buy your board on Boardshop and buy the Lazy Toy 2 if you're looking for the ultimate one quiver board.
