There are about a zillion mid length options out there nowadays so when we're choosing what to stock we look for something a bit different, the Pukas Lotus ticks that box. 

The Pukas Lotus is a well thought out mid length thats easy on the eye and offers more than you might expect in its surfing range. It'll suit anyone whether you're looking for your first mid length or you want a different take on a mid length you already have. There are different types of mid length surfboards from high performance, low volume models to boards with a flatter longboard feel, the Lotus hovers in the mid range category delivering a really good balance of glide, drive and speed. You can surf the Lotus in thigh high slop and it'll be fun but it will also handle some size and punch.

The Lotus has a curvy outline which makes for smooth transitions. There is width and thickness through the middle of the board which thins out as you go up to the nose and back to the tail. There is a little beak up front to smuggle in some more foam to aid with paddling. The rails coming off the nose are almost elipitical, we've seen this on other boards like the Skindog Ova and its a feature we like because it makes the board lock into the wave face and gives hold and instant speed. The rails are fuller through the middle of the board and then harden up in line with the fins. The underside of the board is more interesting! There is a subtle V bottom running into a deeper double concave and then a Lovelacesque Hydro Channel between the fins and out of the tail. The rocker is pretty low through the board with enough nose and tail lift to stop it catching a rail in better waves. All these features point to a mid length that will give a high wave count, easy paddling, and lots of glide too, just what you would expect and want. There is a 'but' though, get your back foot towards the tail and your turns tighten up noticably. Unlike other mids the Lotus isn't just smooth lines and drawn out turns it got a lot more to offer.

The Pukas Lotus surfboard is a board that works for a shortboarder looking for their first mid length, the 2 + 1 fin set up gives that classic 3 fin feel and playing around with centre fin sizes really effects how the board surfs. To compare with other mids for example it would sit firmly in the middle between a Channel Island Mid and an M23, a good balance of both that is uable on a daily basis.
