We love a Twinzer set up and Firewire have smashed it with this TJ Twinzer model. Designed by long term collaborator Stu Kenson this board has all the traits of a great mid length with the added bonus of the twinzer fin set up.

The Taylor Jensen (TJ) Twinzer model has a great wave range from thigh to overhead and is at home in everything from slack beach breaks to lined up powerful set ups. Its such a usable board for anyone from low level intermediate to seasoned ripper. If you're looking to progress your surfing this board is a great option for a high wave count and working on your turns, you can surf it from the middle of the board for a forgiving ride and its nice and stable. If you want it as a performance option then it fully delivers, drive it hard off the tail and you get precision surfing.

The volume is really well hidden through the core of the board, its nicely foiled and the rocker line is spot on. The board delivers plenty of hold in bigger waves but is agile enough to stay fun in smaller waves, its a great all rounder. The rail set up is medium to low giving bite when surfed hard. The wide point is just ahead of the mid point of the board so you have the volume where you need it and you won't find yourself having to be heavy on your front foot to get the board going. Medium rocker at the tail and nose is well balanced to give a good combo of stability and release.

So, the Twinzer set up, what's that all about? There are a few notable twinzer mid lengths out there and what we've learnt is that this set up gives incredible grip and hold through your turns without killing the speed. You can push really hard and there is no slippage even in critical waves. This 'grip' is especially helpful on your backhand where a lot of people struggle, its allows you to lean in hard without slipping out. Needless to say the twinzer set up also generates speed with ease.

We really like this board as an everyday option and the added toughness and durability you get from the Helium tech is a bonus compared to standard PU. Firewire's Helium tech is all about making an already amazing set of construction options even better. Its lighter, seems strong, no signs of any pressure marks at all, and very fast. High Density Aerospace Composite Deck Skins and a new Paulownia/Balsa mix on the rails gives a faster flex response. Having surfed the tech in a couple of different models it does feel light but the speed through a stiffer feel and responsiveness is exceptional, Helium is here to stay.
