Dan Mann strikes again the Firewire Spun Honey surfboard in the Helium tech looks great. This new model is based on Dan's classic Spitfire model from a few years back and is basically a performance groveler. The Spun Honey delivers a fast, forgiving ride with a spicy edge, ideal for anyone wanting to push performance in weaker everyday waves. The Spitfire model from back in the day was very popular and very usable in everyday conditions, the Spun Honey carries the same DNA. The most obvious of these features is the diamond tail, this gives the board a pivoty feel and allows it to get on a rail smoothly and quickly, ideal for the shifty beach breaks that most of us surf. The wide point is just back from the centre point but not as far back as with the Sweet Potato. This combined with a tapered tail gives a great balance of paddling and wave catching along with a lively back foot feel. The concave set up is not disimilar to the Sweet P, an aggressive double concave sat within a single but the double concave goes further up towards the nose meaninge asier release into turns and heaps of lift and therefore speed. The rail rocker line sits between the Sweet P and original Spritfire, more than the Sweet P, less than the Spitfire. The central stringer rocker is a bit straighter which is key in delivering the paddle power and flow in weaker waves. The 5 fin set up gives you the 3 way choice of thruster, quad or twin plus trailer...choose your poison! Firewire's Helium tech is all about making an already amazing set of construction options even better. Its lighter, seems strong, no signs of any pressure marks at all, and very fast. High Density Aerospace Composite Deck Skins and a new Paulownia/Balsa mix on the rails gives a faster flex response. Having surfed the tech in a couple of different models it does feel light but the speed through a stiffer feel and responsiveness is exceptional, Helium is here to stay.Boardshop is stoked to be a key partner for Firewire surfboards across Europe and beyond, we've been with them since the very start. Firewire surfboards are more durable than other surfboard manufacturing processes, and for 90% of surfers they will improve your surfing. Firewire is pushing the limits of applying new technology and innovation to surfboard design and always has an eye on the environmental impact of what they do, they truly are different to the other board companies out there. Firewire have come a long way since the early boards and the range of shapes and tech just gets better and better. A big chunk of the boards in the range are perfectly suited to the waves that 90% of us surf on a regular basis so if you haven't already give them a try. The staff here have surfed pretty much every board in the Firewire range at some time or another and we speak to surfers from all over the world and get their feedback on how the boards perform in all sorts of conditions so we're well placed to talk about all aspects of Firewire surfboards. We're happy to consider trading in your old board against a new Firewire, so If you have any questions about this we'd be delighted to answer them and advise on any potential board choices or enquiries you might have, just drop us an email to [email protected] or call us on 0044 (0) 1243 674250.

Overview
Helium Technology is the go-to choice for generating speed in weak, everyday waves. Built with a stringerless 1.0 lb EPS foam core, its flex is tuned by full-length Paulownia and Balsa wood rails, combined with a 3mm aerospace composite deck skin. The wood rails create a lively flex with spring-back energy, while the deck skins lock in that responsiveness for years. Not only do they boost durability, but they also “remember” their form after compression, keeping your board feeling fresh, fast, and snappy session after session.
