The Best New Surfboards for 2025: Your Ultimate Guide Back to blog By Ian Madden 2 Jun 2025 Bye bye 2024, welcome 2025 and all the great surfboards it’ll bring! 2024 was a decent year surfboard-wise. There were some great new models, tweaks to existing winners and 2025 promises more of the same. We’ll break it down brand by brand so you can see what’s on the horizon. LOST Surfboards Hot on the heels of the bestselling board of the year, the RNF 96, comes the mid length version, the RNF Kingfish. All the magic of the RNF 96 but in a user-friendly paddle machine that mixes up a high wave count and performance too. It still feels loose and fun like the smaller version, its nicely foiled through the nose and tail, this board is going to be a monster seller. The Quiver Killer is back! Apparently Digitally Remastered…whatever that means! This is such a good, better day board, we were mystified when it got dropped and moved into the Lib Tech construction but now it’s back. It’s a monster seller in the Lib Tech construction and is going to be a real favourite this year. Talking of all-time favourites, the Puddle Jumper gets a revamp too! As with the QK no major changes just a couple of minor tweaks to make a great groveler greater! The Lazy Toy 2.0 has been a smash hit, so we’ve extended the size range, we’re going to be carrying it in sizes all the way up to 7’ 2. We’ve spoken to a lot of our American customers (yes, we ship boards to the USA every week!!) who own multiple boards and its clear the LazyToy 2.0 works really week in the longer lengths, exclusive to Boardshop of course! The Pisces and Party Platter are the other 2 new models from matt Biolos coming into the racks at Boardshop for this year. The Pisces launched last year but we never got a chance to surf it, so we passed on it, now we have its going to be a firm favourite. The Party Platter continues the Lost tradition of offering slightly odd ball designs that actually work…it looks like a lot of fun! Let’s not forget the Uber Driver XL, still a perfect first shortboard or hybrid for middling waves, it’s a classic outline that can work for pretty much anyone and everyone – it’s the VW Golf of the hybrid surfing world! Lost have always been on the cutting edge of board tech with C4, Black Dart, Carbon Wrap and now we have Light Speed and Black Sheep. Lightspeed offers the conventional epoxy benefits of increased performance and speed, less weight and prolonged performance. The Black Sheep carbon construction has been a revelation, let’s be honest in some of the previous carbon iterations the flex has been too stiff for day to surfing in average waves, this is not the case with Black Sheep, it’s a winner in terms of flex, durability and performance. We ran the RNF 96, Retro Tripper and Rad Ripper models in Black Sheep last year, we’ll be adding the Pisces and a few more models for 2025. Custom orders are of course available on pretty much any model, we can offer customs on older shapes as well as the current range. Lead time is 6-8 weeks on PU and longer for epoxy of tints, all the details are on our board builder. Lost Launch dates RNF 96 Kingfish – March 2025 (Board Builder Live here) Quiver Killer '25 – April 2025 (Board Builder Live here) Orignal Puddle Jumper '25 – March 2025 (Board Builder Live here) Pisces – March 2025 (Board Builder Live here) Party Platter – April 2025 (Board Builder Live here) Black Sheep Models - May 2025 Channel Islands Surfboards 2024 was one of the best CI years for a long time, the Dumpster Diver 2.0, The Mid Twin and the Feb’s Fish stole the headlines along with the new White Spinetek construction. There are a couple of new models to sink your teeth into. It’s a stunning line up of boards that’s for sure. The Better Everyday (Available Now) Yup, you are correct it’s pretty much the Happy Everyday but with a swallow tail! And why not?? The HE is a super popular board and adding a swallow gives it’s a new dimension. The Feb’s Fish Unless you’ve been living under stone, you’ll be aware of this board. Michael February’s signature Fish that boasts a big wave range and huge grin factor. The roster of boards from last year continues with the Mid, Mid Twin, M23, and of course the Happy Everyday. A hard to beat range that has something for everyone. ECT carbon construction is coming! Its been a bit delayed as the CI team fine tune it to meet their exacting standards. It’ll be available in a PU/PE set up and also epoxy and will work in almost all their models new and old. We haven’t seen it in the flesh yet but having spoken to a few overseas customers who have surfed it its going to be up there. Custom orders are of course available on pretty much any model, we can offer customs on older shapes as well as the current range. Lead time is 6-8 weeks on PU and longer for epoxy of tints, all the details are on our board builder. Lib Tech Surfboards Every year the gang at Lib Tech pushes the limits from an environmental point of view and also re the durability and performance of their boards, this year is no different. The new Eco Impacto 2 construction is even tougher and now lighter too. They’ve also been hard at work on the fin box design, the all new Hammerbox is the toughest fin system out there, great for wave pools!!! The guys have also been working with Matt Biolos again and are introducing some new models to sit alongside the enduring favourites. The new models include the Party Platter, the Super Smooth Operator Mid Length and the 9’ 0 Pick Up Stick. The A Lopez range of mids grows awa well now incorporating the Terra Twin alongside the LT and Terrapin. The evergreen Pick Up Stick will also new be available in 9’ 0 with a 2 + 1 fin set up. We’ve been asking for this for ages so we’re stoked to finally see it in the line. You still be seeing the Puddle Jumper, Puddle Jumper HP, Crowd Killer, Hydra, and of course the RNF 96. We’re not sure which models will feature the all new Eco Impacto 2 but would guess it’ll be most of them. Lib Tech Launch dates - All models arriving March 2025 (Available now) Love Machine Surfboards by Ryan Lovelace One of the highlights of 2024 for us undoubtedly. The board range is stunning and in the FM model Ryan has created one of the best boards of all time. There are new models coming this year, the most notable being The Pedestrian Ship, a Twin Fishy Hybrid with Ryan’s unique take on design. Can’t wait to get this one in the racks. The Asym Satellite is also available to custom order now, if you’re into your Asyms this on looks a winner. We have the first custom orders going through now so feedback will be coming soon. The racks will soon be bulging with new Wills Fish and Evening Star stock too. We’re working on a limited range of hand made FMs from Ryan too, shipped to us direct, we expect these beauties around summer time. Pukas Surfboards There’s been a fair amount of change at Pukas over the last couple of months with a change in the shaping roster. The legend that is Axel Lorentz is setting up on his own (more on this soon) and the also legendary David Santos will be taking up the reins. There are new models galore alongside the staples, highlights for us are the Space Oddity which is a new take on the 69er evo, and the Mustache…what a name for a surfboard! The Mustache is a funky little Fish design that will work brilliantly in our waves. The all new Innca construction is available too and also in a carbon version, we’ll hopefully be testing this in the next couple of months. As Europe’s leading surfboard maker this lot are always on the money. Pukas Launch dates Mustache – March 2025 (Available Now) Space Oddity – May 2025 (Available Now) Space Oddity Innca – May 2025 Custom orders are of course available on pretty much any model, we can offer customs on older shapes as well as the current range. Lead time is 6-8 weeks on PU and longer for epoxy of tints, all the details are on our board builder. Firewire surfboards So much good new stuff coming this year! The next delivery is imminent, the new Taylor Jenson TJ Twinzer mid length and a new Machado model too, a really good looking everyday driver. TJ has another new board on the horizon as well as the mid, a new longboard model too. There is a new Tomo shape coming this year too, and a new Woo shortboard, and an update to the Dominator 2.0. Lots to look forward too. Firewire Launch Dates TJ Twinzer Mid Length – January 2025 (Out now!) Machado Model – March 2025 TJ Mid - March 2025 TJ Longboard – March 2025 Woo – July 2025 Dominator Update – July 2025 Tomo model – July 2025 Indio Surfboards All new for us at Boardshop this year, excellent super tough construction properly designed surfboards. A great range of boards ranging from Fish designs to Longboards and everything in between. These boards are squarely aimed at anyone looking to progress their surfing having been on a foamie or bigger board. Having said that a large number of these boards will go to occasional surfers who enjoy their time in the water but don’t want to break the bank for a board they’ll use a few times a year. Indio Launch Date All models – March 2025 (Out now! Click here to check them out) FORM Surfboards 2025 is all about updates to the existing range and a bit of new tech. The all time favourite Flow Stik gets a facelift and a little tweak to make what is already a brilliant board even better. Same goes for the Mod Pro and Flow Stik Pro, and look out for the all new ADPT update too. The FORM TST epoxy tech gets an update too. this tech is super popular and so Luke Hart has been tweaking it to augment the flex pattern and making it even more user friendly. Luke and Alan are working on a performance Mid Length too for later in the year so we’re really looking forward to testing that one and getting it in the racks. Custom orders are of course available on pretty much any model, we can offer customs on older shapes as well as the current range. Lead time is 6-8 weeks on PU and longer for epoxy of tints, all the details are on our board builder. Pyzel It must be the combo of the Florence brothers and Jon Pyzel’s great designs because these boards just sell and sell. The Gremlin, Phantom, and Ghost family is probably the best 3 boards combo out there still after all these years, great design never goes out of style. The latter part of 2024 saw the Power Tiger model launch and we have no doubt there will be more Florence inspired boards on the way. No specific news to report yet however! Custom orders are of course available on pretty much any model, we can offer customs on older shapes as well as the current range. Lead time is 6-8 weeks on PU and longer for epoxy of tints, all the details are on our board builder. Son of Cobra One our favourite brands. Everyone here has at least one SoC board! the Classic Twin and Round Twin continue to out perform many big brand twins and the Lost colab Cobra Killer is hard to beat in the performance Twin arena. Paul Lefevre has been working on the dims of these models to give that perfect blend of float and performance and first results look great. Ian here had a custom built mid twin made featuring a cobra killer back end and classic twin front, he loves it so we’re trying to get it into production! More details when we have them. Custom orders are of course available on pretty much any model, we can offer customs on older shapes as well as the current range. Lead time is 6-8 weeks on PU and longer for epoxy of tints, all the details are on our board builder. Dark Arts x Tomo The masters of carbon tech roll on. The Revo will be the latest Tomo shape to be added to the range. Stock is on the way for delivery at the end of January and we’re still taking custom orders every week. Turnaround time is faster than the European factories for PU boards!! As always the big boys bring lots of good stuff and we’re continually hunting out the smaller builders too who have interesting takes on what works…to that end we’re attempting to set up a direct order line with TOMO so we can bring in stock boards and customs. We’re looking at a few international brands to see if we can make the numbers work for you and us…watch this space. As always if you see a brand that we don’t stock that you think would be good let us know. Customs are available on most brands and you can of course trade in old boards against new ones or use our 0% Finance to spread the cost. Have a great 2025, as always pray for surf. Back to blog
