Introducing a big step for the man previously behind Pukas surfboards the Axel Lorentz Surfboard range is now available at Boardshop. If you don't know who Axel Lorentz is you've probably been living under a stone or an uninhabitated island somewhere! The man behind some classic Pukas shapes and a STAB in the dark winner, just google him! He's launched his own board range and its loaded with absolute winners.

First up is the Mad Cow model, its not mad and doesn't look like a cow but its is pretty special.

The Mad Cow feels well balanced under your arm, like a hybrid it has extra foam for more effective paddling paddling but doesn't lose the ability to go vertical, push hard through turns, and stay fast in critical sections. Lower tail rocker keeps more of the board in contact with water which allows consistent acceleration and for you to maintain speed in flatter sections. The thinned out tail provides grip when setting the line generating a both positive and dynamic feel in turns.

A fully concaved bottom provides lift and speed whilst keeping the board engaged even in weaker surf. As the concave runs through the fins, it transitions into a vee out of the tail. This makes for easy rail to rail surfing and smooth transitions with plenty of release when surfed off the back foot. The innovative single channel at the tail gives you extra control and maneuverability in harder turns, it feels like you've got more grip no matter how hard you push. The Mad Cow is fun in weaker, smaller waves, it really does maxmise the fun you can have on a shorter board. When the waves turn on it doesn't let you donw, its fast and responsive and those clever little design tweaks give it grip and drive...we like it.

If you are a improving intermediate level surfer, picking the Mad Cow would be great, size it up a little to allow the higher wave count and control. If you are a decent level surfer and above, trust the design and outline, match or only just go above your daily driver volume and you’ll get the most versatile version of the board.
