Description

The True Ames Greenough 4A longboard or single fin.

We as surfers will forever be indebted to George Greenough; George is the reason all surfers today use high-aspect ratio fins to execute radical turns and manoeuvres on waves that surfers back in the 1950's and 60's could only dream of.

Legends like Bob McTavish and Nat Young soon discarded their D-fins adopting George's revolutionary fins. Nat then went on to victory in the world surfing championships with George's fins powering him to the title.

The 4A is THE most iconic fin in the true Ames Greenough collection; it's functional and endlessly versatile and works on just about anything with a longboard fin box!

The 4A is all about balance; the full base teamed with the tapering and moderately flexible tip delivers plenty of drive off the bottom and just the right amount of hold and responsiveness through expansive arcing turns on the open face. The perfect combination of speed generation and performance in the pocket, the 4A longboard fin has hold when you need it and the ability to release when the time is right.

"The Greenough 4-A has been our bread and butter for close to 40 years now, and is still the most popular single fin design there is" - True Ames.

Overview

Key features and details

Classic Feel, Pure Flow

Single fins are all about smooth lines, trim and flow. They give a drawn-out, cruisy feel that loves long turns, clean rail work and stylish surfing. Perfect for logging, mid-length cruising, or anyone chasing that classic glide. Slide it forward for tighter turns, back for more hold and drive, small adjustments make a big difference.

Will these fit my Surfboard?

Made for single fin boxes, the long centre box usually found on longboards, mid-lengths, logs, eggs and some retro-inspired shapes. If your board has one long centre fin box, these will fit. They won’t work in FCS or Futures side fin boxes, and they’re not designed for thruster, quad or twin setups.

Not sure what box your board has? Fire us a message with your board model and we’ll get you dialled in.
