The Skindog Ova surfboard is one of our favourite Mid Lengths and its great news that it's now been released in the brilliant Thunderbolt Technology.
The modern Mid Length surfboard has to tick lots of boxes to satisfy the demanding modern surfer and rest assured the Ova does that. It has paddle power in spades to make sure you get your wave count in the crazy line ups we have today, flow and glide and down the line speed, and maybe most importantly the ability to get it turning from the middle of the board.

The design features have been well worked out as you would expect, there is a hull entry up front that rolls into a single then double concave and vee through the tail. This translates into early wave entry and quick acceleration. The rails are a 50/50 set up like a Flatracker running from the nose that blend into a harder edge mid way through the board, hence the ability to get it turning without having to be right over the fins. The board feels amazing in the Thunderbolt tech.

The Ova mid length needs a 7" single and the outer fins from a medium thruster set to get the most out of it, obviously adjust for your weight or board size but for 7 0s to 8 0s this set up is ideal. Ben has a signature fins released through FCS designed to max out your fun and the performance of the Ova.
Ben 'Skindog' Skinner has always embraced the latest technologies when it comes to performance surfboard construction; working with EPS, carbon fibre and epoxy resins to produce his proven surfboard shapes. So when the opportunity to work with Thunderbolt Technologies came about he grabbed it with both hands.
Skindog's Ova model is constructed using 'Thunderbolt Red' a 100% hand layup Xeon Fibreglass Lamination which delivers a competition weight and flex. Thunderbolt Red uses a Fused Cell EPS Foam Blank which incorporates a Carbon Fibre Multi-Component Flex Control System which replaces a traditional wooden stringer which along with the Xeon Fibreglass lamination delivers a familiar flex which will remain for the extended lifespan of these durable boards. Thunderbolt Red uses a 6 + 4oz fibreglass deck lamination with 6 + 2oz on the bottom. The Fused Cell EPS Foam Blank is wrapped in a Core Shield PVC Shell which affords flexible protection to the EPS core.

Forget the lifeless and corky EPS boards you might of heard about or even owned; these boards couldn't be further from the mass produced characterless Epoxy surfboards 'banged out' in the far east. These boards are 100% hand layups and finished to the very highest standard, and it's worth remembering that the board you buy from us is exactly the same as Skindog is riding!
