Description

The Son Of Cobra Classic Twin is a stunning modern take on the Classic Keel twin surfboard design. If you spend anytime in the sea recently you will have seen that the classic twin design is going through a massive resurgence. Its quickly becoming a worth while addition to any surfers quiver.

The Son Of Cobra Classic Twin is not just recreating the keel twin of the past, that whilst fantastic in lined up California point breaks, does have performance drawbacks in typical beach break conditions that most of us surf the majority of the time. Not content with a retro feel Paul Lef'vre has tweaked the design with the aim of increasing the everyday performance of the board. This board has a single concave with a deepest point between the fins. A low entry rocker gives the board amazing glide and outstanding wave catching ability. The extra lift and bite in the tail makes backside surfing much easier!

The finish on the Classic Twin is stunning with a pale khaki spray, beautiful dark wood cedar stringer and Son Of Cobra embossed branding. Paul Lefv're, head craftsman and shaper at Son of Cobra has an undeniable talent for producing amazing hand-crafted unique surfboards.

The SOC Classic Twin is a great addition to a quiver if you are looking for a different feel or are looking for a twin fin you can use as an everyday board. Capable in a range of conditions the twin is a brilliant wave catcher when the surf is small and will also hold it's own in sizeable surf. If you are looking for the ultimate combination of speed and control - look no further!

Son of Cobra are renowned for their immaculately finished twin fins, mid-lengths and longboards and the Mid Length looks a million dollars with subtle branding, a dark wood stringer and some of the finest glassing we've seen in years!

Matt Biolos of Lost Surfboards is in no doubt about Paul's talent..."I've said for years that Paul may be the most naturally talented, all around board builder, that I've worked with in all my years" - Matt Biolos.

Proper Classic Fish
Custom SoC Classic Twin: 5’10/21.75/3/43L.

I’ve surfed this board about twice a day for the past couple of weeks and now feel semi qualified to write a review.

This is a proper classic fish. Minimal rocker, super wide and floaty and goes well in small stuff as well as being able to draw horizontal lines on a bigger, cleaner wave face. This really becomes apparent when compared in the flesh to other fish shapes. When compared to the CI Feb’s Fish it’s night and day and it shows a very clear distinction between classic fish and a slightly more performance orientated take.

Paddle power and speed is very good and will probably get you in slightly earlier than a sweet potato/other groveller. Don’t expect to be competing with longboards however and you’ll still finding yourself feeding off scraps on the inside in a busy lineup.

A reasonably forgiving board to ride minus it being very easy to pearl due to the lack of rocker. I’ve also found this makes paddling and general usage in chop to be quite difficult.

Goes super well with a set of big keels and is super drivey, loves going rail to rail. Yet to try it with an upright template.

Overall, a great small wave fish that goes best in the clean 2-4ft range and will occupy that space well in any quiver. Any bigger and the entry starts to become quite skittish. For twinny lovers pair it with a better wave board and you’re sorted.

Boardshop great service as usual throughout the process, particularly with advice prior to ordering. The board arrived in pretty much bang on 8 weeks. Beautifully finished board aesthetically and looks great with a resin tint.

Best Fish
I surfed the 5'10" for about two / three years, and recently custom-ordered a 6'0" (not getting any younger...). My absolute favourite, go-to board for UK south coast and summer swells elsewhere. Beautiful design, durable and quite simply the best fish I have surfed to date.

A work of art
A beautiful board that surfs as good as it looks. Went for a 5’10 custom order, there was a delay from the French side, but received regular updated from boardshop up until delivery. The board is generously volumed and paddles so well, an added performance edge to a classic shape. A Big thanks to Matt for all the advice and updates. The customer and delivery service and from boardshop was superb!

FANTASTIC
This board is spot on. Exactly what I was after, it really does it’s own talking. Boardshops customer service incomparable, I bought two boards recently and there was a slight hickup on one of them, and the guys went the extra mile to get me compensated. Cracking board, cracking service.

Great service & the board is just stunning
As always the guys at board shop gave excellent service. I had some pretty detailed queries about sizing and got a fantastic indepth reply, and they nailed it with the advice. The board itself is just beautiful. Really high quality and built to surf as well as you need it to go. A serious amount of foam packed into the 5'8 means paddling, wave catching and glide are great, but small enough, and shaped for performance too...great stuff all round!!
