Description

The Skindog Ova Surfboard is a refined mid-length designed to balance wave-catching ease with smooth, responsive performance. Created by Ben Skinner, this board features a well-proportioned outline, generous volume under the chest for effortless paddling, and a slightly pulled-in tail for tighter, controlled turns. Ideal for small to overhead waves, the Ova thrives in a range of conditions, from soft, rolling swells to punchier surf. The 2+1 fin setup gives surfers the freedom to ride it as a single fin for classic flow or add side bites for extra hold and drive. Whether you're transitioning from a longboard or want a cruisy alternative to your shortboard, the Skindog Ova is built to deliver endless fun with a touch of performance.

Skindog Ova - 7'
I picked this up as I spend a chunk of time in Portugal. It came in the Thunderbolt technology. For anyone who knows, waves in Portugal for most of the summer are less than 1'. I wondered if I'd made a mistake as I sat on the sidelines for 2 months. Then the swell came.

You can tell you have a good board when 3 different people on the same beach remark what a great board that is. It really is a different board in decent waves, hence the 'performance midlength' description. It's light but firm and handles medium to big stuff really well. As it's a mid length you're not going to get huge tight turns out of it, but it easily manages decent bottom and top turns - it is far more than just a cruiser. But, it does carve really well too and generates a lot of speed in the hollows. I would ride this now as a goto in anything from 3-6'. I haven't managed to duck dive it yet, but that will come. An excellent board and maybe one last thing - the thunderbolt tech means it's pretty robust and won't get smacked too easily. Thanks Team Boardshop. Great board.
