Description

Born in the waters of Zarautz and shaped to Pukas’ own specs, the Balloon is all about squeezing maximum fun out of average conditions, without dumbing things down.

A rounded outline and relaxed, “lazy” rocker generate instant speed and effortless glide, while the single concave with V-entry flowing into double concaves keeps the board lively, fast and responsive through turns. Clean, refined rails make transitions smooth and predictable, helping the board hold speed through flatter sections.

Tested and approved by team rider Hodei Collazo, the Balloon shines in sub-par surf up to around 3ft and suits a wide range of surfers. Ride it 3–4 inches shorter than your daily driver. In larger sizes, it’s a brilliant option for progressing surfers wanting extra paddle power without losing performance.

Great board for UK waves
Love this new board. Only had it a few weeks but I knew from the first session that it was great. The board is fast and easy to turn. I have found it a lot easier to get out in front of sections when the waves are weaker. Took it on a week long trip to northern Spain, waves were 3-4ft every day and it worked great. For the UK were the waves aren't super powerful it is perfect.

I am 180cm and 77kg, definitley not a ripper more of a weekend surfer, I bought the Balloon in size 5'8. I was worried this would be too short but after a call with the Boardshop team they reassured me it would be ok. It was a good choice, it is really easy to paddle and I have found it easy to get into waves.

I have enjoyed it most as a thruster, the quad was also fun, defintiely faster but harder to turn.

When surfing at home in the UK I think it is either going to have to be very small or absolutley pumping to persuade me to not take this board out.

A genuine U.K wave board for 90% of the conditions we face ...
Well… what can I say, I never thought I’d click with a board so fast. The Balloon feels familiar and reliable, but also exciting and intriguing at the same time which makes you want to experiment with your surfing.

For reference I'm 5' 9 and currently sitting around 82-83kg and typically ride a 7' 4 Thick Lizzy and a 6' 4 Pukas Space Oddity ...

Volume distribution is perfect, generous under the chest but not noticeable when up and riding, those low performance rails are special and really allow you to engage and slice through the wave. The deep concave through the fins offers so much release but so manageable at the same time. I’ve been running it as a thruster but super keen to try it as a quad and even twin + trailer. Wave range is crazy considering how much volume is hidden in the board, I’ve genuinely surfed this board in subpar knee high waves on the South Coast (if you know, you know!) and chest high days at home and in Cornwall and feels solid but playful. Super excited on this one and I can already tell its going to be a quiver killer for me … Stoked!

You see a lot of boards out there which designed/ marketed to the Small - Head high days but most of it is rubbish, I've been lucky enough to surf this ahead of the launch and really test it out and I can say from my experience with a lot of boards that this is true to that statement, size it smaller than you think, trust the board and trust the design, it will do a lot of heavy lifting, but it does scale up well too ....

A winner in my book
