Description

The Firewire Sweet Potato surfboard in the new Volcanic technology. All the good stuff you already know about this all amazing board but now available with the added benefits Volcanic tech.

The Volcanic tech combined with the now familiar Helium set up is a brilliant step forward in terms of performance but also has a reduced environmental impact compared to traditional surfboard builds.

Volcanic Tech is made from Basalt Fibres Extruded from Volcanic rocks. The rocks are crushed, melted and extruded into woven fibres that make up the cloth. The molten rock is then extruded through small nozzles to produce continuous filaments of basalt fibre. The filaments are then cut into long stem fibres and woven into lamination cloth fibre. The cloth has similar characteristics to carbon as it relates to strength and weight however because the fibres are derived from Organic Raw materials, when combined with Bio Resins it serves as better degradable ECO alternative than using traditional carbon fibre cloth.

Who remembers the total craziness of the original Sweet Potato, about a million litres all crammed into a 5' 4" surfboard! Still remember how much we laughed when we first saw it, but you know what it worked! Dan Mann's updated version is a brilliant update, the Firewire Sweet Potato is going to be around for years to come..

This new version keeps the DNA of the original - heaps of volume in small sizes but it also incorporates some different features. The big round tail has gone and is replaced with a pulled in swallow to give more control, the bottom shape is altered as well to give the board a much more responsive feel. The key feature though is the crazy double barrel concave, this generates plenty of lift and therefore speed which is what makes this board so brilliant. Essentially the new Sweet Potato replaces your longboard if that's what you choose to ride in smaller gutless waves.

If you are looking for a groveler, or just a board to deal with weaker waves in the knee to shoulder high range the Sweet Potato has you covered, epic paddling, early wave entry, bags of speed and glide and you can also get it on a rail, what's not to like? This board can work for all and any skill level, if you're at the lower end go bigger and it'll give you hours of fun, if a better surfer then obviously go smaller, its a board for everyone.

The staff here have surfed pretty much every surfboard in the Firewire range at some time or another and we speak to surfers from all over the world and get their feedback on how the boards perform in all sorts of conditions so we're well placed to talk about all aspects of Firewire surfboards. We're happy to consider trading in your old board against a new Firewire, so If you have any questions about this we'd be delighted to answer them and advise on any potential board choices or enquiries you might have, just drop us an email to [email protected] or call us on 0044 (0) 1243 674250.

Awesome board
Love this board, easy paddling, easy catching waves, I was catching really weak mushy shite!, only slight downside is it can be quite unstable unless you pop up properly, with the large double concave but that's more of a skill problem than a board problem so probably not the best beginner board, I'm a beginner/intermediate and 65kg, I'm glad I got the 6' any bigger would be way to big and any smaller and I would definitely struggle, all in all a great board and does exactly what it says on the tin, looks sick too

Great small wave board!
If you are a longboarder wanting a step down board, look no further. This catches everything, even with a crowded lineup at Watergate bay in 1-2 ft surf. Great service as always from boardshop and thanks to Ian for meeting me on a Saturday to collect the board (as it was out of hours). Above and beyond customer service!!
