The Mid Strength was born out of necessity: James Cheal developed it during a season when he couldn’t surf his usual shortboards. The goal? A surfboard that “does the work for you.” The result: a mid-length that catches waves early and surfs like a shorter board. It features a full-ish nose for paddle power, a soft round tail for forgiving turn arcs, and a low-entry / medium-exit rocker for speed without drag. The bottom contour transitions from slight single under the front to deeper single/double further back, making it reactive yet smooth. In practice, it glides in mushy sections, trims down the line, and pivots into turns with just enough release. It’s ideal for surfers who want that mid-length feel without sacrificing responsiveness.
