Based on trips to the Mentawai Islands, James tuned the outline by pulling in the nose slightly and narrowing the tail, giving it more of a shortboard-like feel while preserving paddle ability. The rails are lowered and rolled, allowing for stronger holds at higher speeds on the face. The rocker and bottom contours remain similar to the Mid Strength, preserving familiar handling traits. What you gain is sharper control in the pocket, more drive through steeper sections, and a board that bridges the gap between mid-length comfort and high-performance snappiness.
