Chris Christenson needs little introduction in the world of surfboards, his work is known, respected and well sought all over the world. As a shaper to the elite his established surfboard models are benchmarks for many other shapers in terms of innovation, quality and performance. He surfs all styles of boards, loves back country snowboarding, has a passion for vintage motorcycles and cars, enjoys fishing, loves playing golf, and seeing live music. His catalogue of shaping is impressive, shaping side by side with Dick Brewer, and Skip Frye to mane just a couple of near legends. His boards have been ridden by Greg Long who won the Eddie and Waterman of the Year, and several XXL winners. Probably the most important thing though is the recognition and credit he gets from the best surfboard shapers and the that the best surfers in the world choose to ride his boards. The Fish, Flat Tracker and Cafe Racer to name just a few have inspired many other models from other shapers but few reach his heights.
A collaboration between Christenson Surfboards and the Pukas team, from the Basque country, has been in the offing for a while and now it’s come to life in the shape of two models, the Pegaso and the Water Lion. The Pegaso is a step on from the legendary Fish model in his range in brings added performance to the Fish concept. The Water Lion is designed to bridge the gap between a performance short board and a step up. Its designed to start working well in head high plus waves that are hollow and punchy but it will also cover waves up to double overhead no problem. Christenson’s boards are works of art and these Pukas colabs are no different, the finish and quality is beyond reproach. There are sure to be more models to follow these two Pukas x Christenson models, watch this space.
