Chilli Surfboards

Chilli Surfboards

Chilli Surfboards started with one good wave. Back in 1995, a young Jamie Cheal, fresh from sweeping floors in a Sydney surfboard factory, shaped his first board and took it for a spin at Greenmount on the Gold Coast. Against all odds, it actually worked. That first fluke lit the fuse, and a few years later, Chilli Surfboards was born in a small Brookvale factory.

Word spread fast. Soon, some of Australia’s best were winning on Chilli boards, and by 2004, none other than Andy Irons was riding a Chilli in his campaign for a third world title. Not bad for a bloke who started out sanding rails for pocket change.

These days, Jamie’s still shaping with that same mix of precision and curiosity, building high-performance surfboards that just feel right under your feet. From the Rare Bird and Mid Strength, to The Churro, every design is fine-tuned to work across a wide range of conditions.

At Boardshop, we’ve handpicked the Chilli Surfboards that translate perfectly to UK waves, boards that still hold that Aussie spark but paddle, glide, and perform in the kind of surf we actually get here. They’re fast, forgiving, and seriously fun to ride.

So, whether you’re chasing clean autumn walls or trying to squeeze some joy out of a mushy summer session, there’s a Chilli for it.
