Product Details

The Pukas Original Sixtyniner surfboard. Combining the wider front half of a retro fish with a narrower, rounded pintail, and a little extra kick in the rocker. The Sixtyniner is a wave catcher, with the wide point under your chest it paddles like a longboard, but with the smooth lines, tucked in tail and rocker, turns on a dime. This magic little board feels 'alive' under your feet, you can carve walls to your hearts content, thrash it around in small waves and you'll be stunned how well it holds and projects in steeper, hollow conditions. The 'One board quiver' moniker has probably been levelled at far too many surfboards, but the Original Sixtyniner really fits the bill and could comfortably equip you for most surf trips and conditions as long as 10ft Pipe isn't on your 'to do' list.

The Original Sixtyniner is shaped by Frenchman, Axel Lorentz who is a Pukas master shaper with experience well earned and deserved through almost 20 years experience mowing foam. The Frenchman, now based in Olatu, Pukas Factory, has a collection of his own. Along the way he met the Lucky Bastards (Paul & Tristan), legit out of the box french glassers, they have teamed up at Pukas to produce some truly exquisite product. Axel and these two famous Lucky Bastards develop great combinations of shapes with even better pigment and polish works with the adding of fabrics and extras of their own; Pukas models such as the Original Sixtyniner and the Dirty Devil are just some of their glamorous and trendy works.

It demands "good" waves
It's not a board to go to when it's small or mushy. It paddles ok because all the fore volume, but don't let you pump due to its ultra narrow ending and tail. It's not pushed by the water bc there's no volume to be pushed, specially if you are backfooted surfer. The board recquiers to be surfed mor in the middle for cruising. and feet toguether if you stance on the tail you'll be dragging and loosing momnentum specially when surfing backside. Its tricki to push the tail for maneuvers bc you can loose speed and drag enough to ruin your waves. Good and funny board for open face walls and carving surfing when over than chest high. I surfed in Tropical Reef breacks and in shitty beachies in Spain and definetelly performs in "Good waves". For mushy or small, take other board, specially you are more backfooted surfer and lie to push the tail.
Fantastic all rounder board. So so far I've surfed this
Fantastic all rounder board. So so far I've surfed this board in 2ft crumblers and 3-4ft steep clean faces. It goes like a dream and will definitely hold in much bigger surf. Very responsive for the width and thickness of the board. I have a feeling the rest of my quiver will barely see sunlight in the future. Thanks Boardshop for excellent service and speedy delivery.

A very good surfboard, probably one of the best I've
A very good surfboard, probably one of the best I've ridden. I can only think of my Lazy Boy that delivers so much fun in such a wide range of waves. It paddles well and the shape, foil and rocker of the tail makes it very easy to use when the surf is good. On the bottom it looks like you have a V, into a deep concave (can't tell if there is a double in there) and V off the tail making the Sixty Niner great for down the line speed runs, staying in the pocket and carving. As for sizing don't be afraid of getting a bit of extra foam if needed, mine is at the top of my volume range, looks and feels chunky but thanks to the tail design and bottom contours performs way better than I thought it would. Board and goodies delivered as expected and the trade-in went without a hitch. Result!
