Product Details

The Lost Quiver Killer surfboard by Matt Biolos.

Following in the wake of the massively successful ShortRound, the Quiver Killer has been produced to satisfy the needs of surfers who love their ShortRound but would like a little more performance to cope with the better quality waves they encounter on their travels and in the more demanding winter conditions here in Europe.

The requests were coming in thick and fast for round tail versions of the ShortRound, with a little more rocker and some fine tuning of the nose and tail outlines. Matt had delivered quite a few of these "thumb" tail boards and was getting some really positive feed back, it was at this point he realized this board deserved its own name and the Quiver Killer was born.

The Starting point was the standard ShortRound, the length was reduced by a couple of inches, the nose to tail rocker was increased, the nose was tucked in a bit and then the tail was changed to a forgiving "thumb" tail. As with any surfboard the less rail submerged at any one time increases the boards ability to turn faster and easier and enables it to fit in the more critical sections of the wave. No drastic changes were made to the width at the front fins so the board still kept it's small wave capabilities. The result is a very kind-on-the-eye, minimalistic shape with a continuous curve. The key is the surface are and volume are still generous so the Quiver Killer still performs really well in all but the smallest conditions when you'll have to break out your true groveller.

The new branding and decal package for the Quiver Killer is based on the same bullet theme, the decal was changed from the stubby speeding bullet of the ShortRound to the stretched, pointy Spitzer influenced round.

The Quiver Killer...a shot straight to the heart.

Excellent board and service
I had been out of surfing for a while and didn't know where to start. Great advice from the guys at boardshop. I'm 90kgs,5'11ish and just getting fitness back. I got the 6'2''. Really easy to paddle and catch waves.
Great versatile board
I took this board to Portugal and surfed both crumbling and heavily barrelling waves. It does what it says on the tin. This is a one stop board. I'm 5'11', 13.25 stone, experienced intermediate surfer, 38 years old in good shape. I bought the 6,0 quiver killer at 33 odd cl. It felt a wee bit heavy and volumey for me when it arrived, but in the water paddles well and catches waves very easily. In average surf, say waist to chest height, this board gives you all the help you need to catch, while is very much not a groveller in terms of manoeuvrability. The sharp tail rails mean you can turn it well, without having to back foot stomp it at all. Its very smooth also. It's fast (enough) down the line. In barrelling surf it makes the drops which amazed me. You can surf the hardcore stuff on this (not as a quad though as it can spin out) but personally I would use a step up board like a tube pig though for more critical lines. One thing I would say is that the board felt slow into the hollow wave (albeit it caught the wave easily) which I think is down to the catching point being higher up the board than my previous boards. I would give the board five stars because it is marketed as a one stop board and I believe it is a great choice for that. Top end surfers will want a gunnier / narrower board in serious stuff and may have personal preferances for feel in smaller waves that would render this board a bit generalist for them, but the quiver killer is a great go to option.
