Description

The Lost Puddle jumper surfboard by Matt Biolos. The latest and greatest (Matt's words not mine) addition to the Domesticated Series. Based on the basic outline of the Bottom Feeder, but with reversed bottom and rocker curves. The Puddle Jumper unlike the previous Domestic boards like the RV and Bottom Feeder, features a concave bottom that transitions into Vee out through the tail. The wide template makes wave catching simple and maintain down the line glide and stability. The introduction of the concave increases lift and along with the pronounced rail curve lends itself to top-to-bottom, rail-to-rail surfing. The relatively straight rail line and Vee in the tail keep the board moving forward and able to hold in when executing hard carving manoeuvres. " This is the best small wave shortboard I have ever ridden. I have never made a claim like that about any board before" Matt Biolos.

Lost Puddle Jumper 5'8" purchase at the Boardshop warehouse
I recently went down to the Boardshop warehouse to buy a new board and had a few boards in mind that I wanted to pick up. Having surfed and been buying boards for around 30 years, I've bought boards all over the world, from used boards in small Devon surfshops, ex-pro boards in Hawaii, to surfboard megastores in Australia where they have nearly every model in all sizes of all the top brands. I seriously think Boardshop is the best place in the UK to get a board from in my opinion.

Had excellent communication and advise from the team on the phone and upon arrival met Matt, who was happy to show me the full range of boards available. He didn't rush me at all and gave unbiased advise and knowledge about boards that only comes from working in the industry with boards and riders everyday. He understands the surfboard buying process and was a pleasure to have help me through my own decision making process.

I had quite specific requirements but still some vague areas in my mind as to exactly which board would suit me best, but being allowed to pick up the boards and talk in a friendly, unrushed manner meant it was like having a mate (with patience!) there to help you choose. As a result I've ended up with the perfect board for me. The 5'8" Puddle Jumper is exactly what I was looking for and for me (75kg and 5'10") it is the perfect board for UK surf when it's 1-3ft. Hell, with bigger fins and the quad fin set up it'll probably work well in bigger surf too.

I've also previously bought a board online from Boardshop and can also vouch for the delivery service being extremely fast, safe and reliable. On that occasion I also received great advice over the phone before making my decision.

I also got to chat to the legendary Ian who does the board reviews on YouTube! Really nice, down to earth guy who loves talking about all things surfing.

The right one for now!
Having not taken the advice given to me a number of months ago, I decided that I would return and speak to Ian again and make the decision that I should have made the first time around.
No board is a bad board, and we all have to earn a living, however there is the right board for every surfer at every sttage of his or her progress. I know now that the Lost PJ is the one I need.
I also seeked the advice of my instructor and he said "hands down the PJ at 6.0"
Really looking forward to taking overseas as well, as I KNOW it is right for me to progress.
Would highly recomend the guys at boardshop as they truly do try and get it right.
I think the advantage they have is that the range is vast and can accomodate every need, as opposed to try and shoehorn you into limited availability?
It seems that they dont have to sell you a board, they would like to sell you a board, there is a big difference!
Well done boardshop!

Fantastic fun!
Bought the 5,4 as I'm 6ft but very light (65kg) this board is fantastic, paddles like a longboard but feels like a skateboard once your feet are over the fins. Spent all weekend throwing it around in small junky surf, the right board for the bottom end of the surf quality/size

Awesome small to medium wave board!!
Massive thanks to Ian and the guys at board shop for helping me pick the right surfboard and length / volume etc, really good service :)
The puddle jumper is epic, first surf ended up being head high solid surf and it handled it brilliantly! Then last weekend had it in waist and shoulder high waves and it was so much fun! It's improved my surfing already being much more maneuverable having stepped down from a 6ft4" hybrid.
Get one!

My cutbacks were better instantly, it's much more manoeuvrable but still forgiving really happy with it!
Thanks for all the help and great service with delivery and collection of my old surfboard!

I put in a good 6 hours on the Puddle Jumper this weekend, noodle arms today haha!
Really fun peaky 2-3ft swell on the east coast over at Cayton Bay, absolutely loving it! My cutbacks were better instantly, it's much more manoeuvrable but still forgiving really happy with it!

Look forward to dealing with you guys again!

Puddle Jumpers
recently bought the OG Puddle Jumper for the small days at my local beachie. It totally lives up to the hype- it is a grovel machine. I've never had a board that can generate so much speed. However, much and all as I loved it, ours was a funny relationship. I found it a little flat and although super-manoeuvrable you really need to get that back foot in the right place to get the most from it. But when you do it is absolutely epic! I bought the 5'6 and at 33L it seemed just a bit on the corky side even for a groveller. I'm 5'11/74kg.
So I decided to give the rp version a try. I can't understand why Matt Biolos says essentially it's the same board except we've changed the rocker and slimmed the tail in the last 18" and also the volumes are sized differently. All those changes how could it be the same board? Well, honestly, in a nutshell..it's not. It surfs nothing like its older brother. It isn't in the same league as a groveller nor does it blast out of the gates like the OG with enough speed to make your face melt. It is however, easier to surf, smoother, has better bite in turns, and holds a beautiful line in hollow waves. It's still very fast and for someone like me who is more used to a modern shortboard, it is a better fit. It's kind of like the woman you should marry. If you want a wild crazy chick who will party all night, be awesome in the sack but be gone in the morn with your wallet..get the OG. I wanted that in my 20s (well maybe not the wallet bit!) but now just touching 40 give me fun, reliable, can take anywhere any day! I must be getting old! Buy either you won't regret it!
Enjoy :)
