Description

The Lost Puddle Fish surfboard by Matt Biolos is the latest inductee to the "Mayhem toy box". Born out of frustration arising from an extended period of flatness and small waves, the Puddle Fish has all the small wave catching nous of its predecessor the Puddle Jumper but with an injection of blistering speed and chuckability.

The most obvious tweak to the original PJ is the inverted swallow tail set into a widened and squared off tail with a pronounced channel sitting inside the double concave vee delivering eye-watering speed and release. Less obvious changes to the original PJ include the wide point pushed a fraction further forward and the straightened rail line between the foot placements, both of which assist the board with more down-the-line speed and its ability to negotiate flat sections and mush.

Matt set out to create a board with the dialled in speed of a alternative/retro Fish but without the sometimes limiting ability to snap turns in average surf, and stay in the pocket/critical part of the wave.

The Puddle Fish has been hotly anticipated by an expectant crew of differing abilities. Sorted shortboarders looking for a summer toy will relish the speed and performance while the intermediate or first-time shortboarder will love the stability and wave catching characteristics.

The Puddle Fish is set to be a huge hit this coming Spring/Summer season with its optimum conditions being from 2 to 4 foot, either beach breaks, points or the mellower reefs. Five fin boxes give you the option of quad or thruster set-up, and I guess you could experiment with larger front fins and a small trailer for an even looser, retro fish feel?

Boardshop will be stocking the Puddle Fish in the "Bro Dims" but you can choose the "Pro Dims" should you wish via our Custom Board Builder.

Paddles well, easy to duck dive and catches loads.
I've purchased a magic board.
The puddle fish is the most lively board ive ever ridden, paddles well, easy to duck dive and catches loads.
I've been riding it as a thruster until the fins arrive, and it's great. Pivots well and slow enough for in the pocket, even when it's well overhead.
Kind regards and many thanks from Croyde

Fish Speed with thruster control
I am a massive fan of the Lost Puddle Jumper boards, having had the original Puddle Jumper and round pin version. Got to say after 6 months of surfing the Puddle Fish, it may well be my favourite board in the puddle jumper family to date. Really stoked on this one! Feels like the best wave catcher in the range, also with the best speed and control in waves under head high. In both knee high slop and decent lined up waves the speed is out of this world. Think Lost have got it right with this one all the speed of a fish, or twin fin, without any awkward feeling. Paired mine with the FCS II MB Split Keel Quad fins - a match made in heaven so far. Thanks Boardhop, I may have looked past this one without the advice.
