Product Details

The Lost Bean Bag surfboard by Matt Biolos. The Bean Bag is a radically extreme small wave toy. The concept is based around maximum surface area for lift and stability is tiny surf that would normally have you reaching for the longboard, or worse still heading home to mow the lawn! Balanced by a "double ender" silhouette with nose to tail Vee enhancing the Bean Bag's rail to rail performance in knee high waves. Although similar to the Couch Potato, the Bean Bag has a wider tail and a much flatter overall rocker and a flat deck allowing it to be ridden thinner. The Bean Bag is meant to be surfed in very short lengths, and unlike many of the extremely wide and short boards, can be surfed aggressively from the tail and from rail to rail without sliding out! Get off the couch and grab your Bean Bag for some serious small wave fun.

The Greatest Groveler?
I have been riding a Firewire BP as my groveler for a couple of years, whilst I loved the look of the Timbertek, and all that goes with the Firewire brand. The fact is I just never felt like the board was giving me the experience I hoped it would. I had the “Great Groveler debate chat” with the Boardshop guys and we discussed several options. For me I will only ride the groveler under 3ft, so I wasn’t seeking any sort of performance hybrid, it was an out and out slush machine to add into the small wave end of the quiver.

The first time I took it out was 1-2ft Paignton, the waves were pants…….but I had a ball, caught a ton of waves and was able to generate loads of speed and really enjoyed the session, I was really surprised.. I then took it out at 2-3ft Bantham, again had a ball, much better waves and the board was great fun, I could easily have opted for my main board, but it was very crowded and I though I’d give it ago. It paddles like a dream, you can stroke into waves with very little effort and generally catch them before most other shortboards. I absolutely love this board, its just pure fun. True, you’re not going to get your picture in a magazine riding one…..but for almost all of us, that’s exactly the point, we surf because its fun…pure and simple. When the waves aren’t great but I still want to go in, this is hands down the best small wave board I’ve ridden, its really is.

Top board
Great Surfboard!
I got the 6.0 after great advise by the Boardshop.co.uk crew! Perfect board for smaller waves with high speed! The high volume makes for easy paddling!
Amazing board
Super fun wave catching machine. Had it out in 1 foot surf and had a blast. Great customer service too
Mini log
I've taken this out a few times in anything from 2' to 5' surf and I have to say it is more versatile than I imagined. Certainly gets into things early, though I have to say it's main advantage is its ability to flow through flat sections. I'm 88kg and went for the 6' 0" and it's proven a great groveller to pair up with my 6'6" Unibrow, though I have to say, if I was purchasing again I might knock a couple of inches off the length.
Transition from rail to rail really is snappy and quick and the board held its own even in above-shoulder-high waves
My first owned board, couldn't be happier with the choice of purchase. Feels super light and crisp in the water while paddling. Transition from rail to rail really is snappy and quick and the board held its own even in above-shoulder-high waves... I don't know what else to say, other than this is a REALLY FUN board!
Just get one.
If your looking at this then it's probably to compliment another board. For me that's a short round. surfed a few times now, and amazed by how well this performs in the small stuff. was a little worried about going 5'6" being tall, but not an issue. Rail to rail transition for a board so wide is quick and snappy. so much fun, and not had it in good small surf yet. As a quad it flew even more and still turned amazingly. just get one.
Amazed by how well this performs

Just surfed the BeanBag at 3ft half decent Saunton, Wow
Just surfed the BeanBag at 3ft half decent Saunton, Wow how much fun was that!!
Used the BeanBag a couple times now in 1-2ft offshore
Used the BeanBag a couple times now in 1-2ft offshore punchy beach break and 2-3ft onshore weak surf, it went well in both conditions where my usuall hybrid/Shortboard would have struggled I was paddling rings around my mates and taking off on everything. Great board for surfing with a more mellow attitude when you want to cruise and carve on those small and crowded days. I found it didn't respond to surfing more aggressively when maybe a Bottom Feeder or RV would be a better option. For a shortboard wanting a summer fun board for the lowest wave spectrum and even pushing your kids into a few small waves this could be a great choice.
Surfed this on two foot gutless waves at Bracklesham, didn't
Surfed this on two foot gutless waves at Bracklesham, didn't dissapoint in getting into waves early and felt very floaty with reasonably loose turns. Rail to rail transition also felt fluid. Perfect board for those weak days. Very happy customer and great service from knowledgable staff.
