The Lib tech X Lost Puddle Jumper surfboard.

Could surfboard construction Nirvana actually be here?

As surfers we've all dreamed about owning a high performance surfboard with all the positive attributes of a traditional PU board but with none of the inherent fragility that comes with this construction.

Lib Tech are about to change everything you know about surfboards and everything you thought was possible in surfboard construction.

Using 31 brand-new components to the surf industry and calling on 30 years of experience constructing environmentally friendly surfboards, skateboards and snowboards, it was inevitable that Lib Tech were going to produce some remarkable surfboards using this ground breaking, environmentally friendly manufacturing process. Each of the Lib Tech surfboards is handcrafted in the USA with an unwavering focus on building THE toughest high performance surfboards in the world with a commitment to operating in an environmentally responsible manner.

The construction process uses a Nitrogen cell Foam (25-40% recycled content) core for maximum strength and pop. The foam is closed cell, completely waterproof and won't absorb water.
Hexzylon Fibre Foam Skin, this is a smooth, strong, impact and ding resistant layer with the signature Hex pattern.
Next comes the unique Woven Basalt Fibre which is additive free super strong and resists heel dents.
The Bio-Matrix Resin is super strong and environmentally friendly with the best flex qualities of traditional PU and a longer lifespan than Epoxy.

Lib Tech surfboards are fitted with the lightest and toughest fin boxes on the market which are compatible with Pro Box, FCS, and all FCS dual tab style fins. They also use Sprock Blocks at the tail to add even more durability to the most fragile areas on the board. Even the leash plug has been given the same attention with 6061 T6 Aircraft aluminium pins and lightweight fibre composite cups.

"Since I first saw Lib Tech’s ECO ISO construction, I wanted to build a board with it. The strength to weight ratio, eco minded materials and techniques, and the fact that this tech was being built in the USA was incredibly interesting to me. I am stoked that the time has finally come and hope people enjoy riding them as we have enjoyed building them." – Matt Biolos

The Lost Puddle jumper surfboard by Matt Biolos. The latest addition to the Domesticated Series. Based on the basic outline of the Bottom Feeder, but with reversed bottom and rocker curves. The Puddle Jumper unlike the previous Domestic boards like the RV and Bottom Feeder, features a concave bottom that transitions into Vee out through the tail. The wide template makes wave catching simple and maintain down the line glide and stability. The introduction of the concave increases lift and along with the pronounced rail curve lends itself to top-to-bottom, rail-to-rail surfing. The relatively straight rail line and Vee in the tail keep the board moving forward and able to hold in when executing hard carving manoeuvres. " This is the best small wave board I have ever ridden. I have never made a claim like that about any board before" Matt Biolos.

The right one for now!
Having not taken the advice given to me a number of months ago, I decided that I would return and speak to Ian again and make the decision that I should have made the first time around.
No board is a bad board, and we all have to earn a living, however there is the right board for every surfer at every sttage of his or her progress. I know now that the Lost PJ is the one I need.
I also seeked the advice of my instructor and he said "hands down the PJ at 6.0"
Really looking forward to taking overseas as well, as I KNOW it is right for me to progress.
Would highly recomend the guys at boardshop as they truly do try and get it right.
I think the advantage they have is that the range is vast and can accomodate every need, as opposed to try and shoehorn you into limited availability?
It seems that they dont have to sell you a board, they would like to sell you a board, there is a big difference!
Well done boardshop!
Perfect board for the Med
Catches everything and lets you perform turns and snappy manoeuvres in mush. It handles also bigger, more powered waves (like 4-5 foot). Best small wave board I have ever ridden (i rode a lot like chumlee, sweet potato, many fishes, and own a FW BakedPotato and a Tomo Evo).

Carbon wrap contributes to the reactive feeling of the board and looks nice. However, durability is to be seen , as bumps have started to appear in the deck's nose are (no direct footsteps there) and the colour seems unstable after 3 days of surfing (board always protected from sunlight and heat except when in the water).

Stoked with how the board rides! I have the feeling it will help a lot to improve my skills.
Will go for a PJHP in winter.

Boardshop service is brilliant, as usual.
Lib Tech Puddle Jumper Review
Bought a 5'7 last year. Best board I've ever had, paddles well, turns on a dime, I've been able to go vert on my backhand on shoulder high sloppy faced waves. Ridden it a few feet over head in pitching beach break barrels and head high point breaks. Very tough construction too! I landed on it with my knee jumping off Tetrapods and it only put a slight bruise in the deck. I have the peace of mind knowing that if I take off late in the lip and go over the falls the boards gonna be fine. Get one under your feet! The boys at boardshop are great for advice regarding sizing, fin selection etc.
Great board! just get one you won't regret it.
Great board took a few boards away with me and just kept riding this one! Don't normally like new technology but really happy I got one of these. Really strong board I wouldn't drive over it but I used it for 2 weeks and no pressure dings although a few people have snapped these in big surf I'd spoken to. but heavy waves will break any board! I took some hits and was fine and def expected at least one dent! only thing I didn't like was the fin boxes! They work but they should have just gone with future boxes or something. Used fcs fins and just didn't feel like they went in nicely but stayed in fine!
Fantastic fun!
Bought the 5,4 as I'm 6ft but very light (65kg) this board is fantastic, paddles like a longboard but feels like a skateboard once your feet are over the fins. Spent all weekend throwing it around in small junky surf, the right board for the bottom end of the surf quality/size
5.10 lost puddle jumper board
Nice board haven't used yet. But looking forward to getting out on it. but guys at board shop are good to deal with. Came very well packed. Thanks guys
Lib Tech Pubble Jumper 5'7
I have tested the PJ in a array of s??t waves over the past week. From 4 second period knee high surf that I usually wouldn't bother with to chest high with a little punch. It's very easy to catch waves on, glides through flat sections and seems to go in anything. I took a bit for volume than I usually ride, this helps with the groveling. It's surprisingly high performance too, it will tailslide and 360 easily! The tech does feel a little stiffer compared to PU but it still flys through the chop without issues and loving the fact it will last some time without being destroyed. Boardshop service was spectacular as usual!
Awesome small to medium wave board!!
Massive thanks to Ian and the guys at board shop for helping me pick the right surfboard and length / volume etc, really good service :)
The puddle jumper is epic, first surf ended up being head high solid surf and it handled it brilliantly! Then last weekend had it in waist and shoulder high waves and it was so much fun! It's improved my surfing already being much more maneuverable having stepped down from a 6ft4" hybrid.
Get one!
My cutbacks were better instantly, it's much more manoeuvrable but still forgiving really happy with it!
Thanks for all the help and great service with delivery and collection of my old surfboard!

I put in a good 6 hours on the Puddle Jumper this weekend, noodle arms today haha!
Really fun peaky 2-3ft swell on the east coast over at Cayton Bay, absolutely loving it! My cutbacks were better instantly, it's much more manoeuvrable but still forgiving really happy with it!

Look forward to dealing with you guys again!

Puddle Jumpers
recently bought the OG Puddle Jumper for the small days at my local beachie. It totally lives up to the hype- it is a grovel machine. I've never had a board that can generate so much speed. However, much and all as I loved it, ours was a funny relationship. I found it a little flat and although super-manoeuvrable you really need to get that back foot in the right place to get the most from it. But when you do it is absolutely epic! I bought the 5'6 and at 33L it seemed just a bit on the corky side even for a groveller. I'm 5'11/74kg.
So I decided to give the rp version a try. I can't understand why Matt Biolos says essentially it's the same board except we've changed the rocker and slimmed the tail in the last 18" and also the volumes are sized differently. All those changes how could it be the same board? Well, honestly, in a nutshell..it's not. It surfs nothing like its older brother. It isn't in the same league as a groveller nor does it blast out of the gates like the OG with enough speed to make your face melt. It is however, easier to surf, smoother, has better bite in turns, and holds a beautiful line in hollow waves. It's still very fast and for someone like me who is more used to a modern shortboard, it is a better fit. It's kind of like the woman you should marry. If you want a wild crazy chick who will party all night, be awesome in the sack but be gone in the morn with your wallet..get the OG. I wanted that in my 20s (well maybe not the wallet bit!) but now just touching 40 give me fun, reliable, can take anywhere any day! I must be getting old! Buy either you won't regret it!
Enjoy :)
Great small wave board!!
This board has increased my wave count in the small stuff but it's what you can then do on small waves that really impresses. You get into the wave so early and after a couple of pumps you have buckets of speed regardless of how small or gutless the wave is. I was doing turns on knee high waves that I would have been struggling to even get down the line on previous groveler boards.
Lost 5'6" Puddle Jumper
Fastest board I've ever owned and ridden bar none! I got the 5'6 @ 33.1L, I find it just a touch too floaty even as a groveller (I'm 5'11 and 74kg) but it does hold the volume well. It absolutely speeds and is so agile, even more responsive than any of my shortboards! Customer care was ace from the lads at Boardshop :)
Lib-Tech Game Changer
Took a while to get my hands on this board as they only found their way to the UK shores in early April but well worth the wait! Mine is a 5.9ft 37.5ltrs which is ideal for intermediate surfer who like me who wants to catch a lot of waves ! Thanks to Boardshop/Hardcloud for sorting it for me. Stoked!
The Lib Puddle Jumper is Amazing..
I own the 5'3'' that is great for my weight and level. I was looking for a small wave but without the bulky feeling that comes with a lot of groveler/fish designs and feel lucky to get one of these. This board is amazing, overcomes flat/slow sections and flies on steeper sections too, very directional and somehow very user-friendly. Surprised at first, totally stoked after a few months.. *(amazing construction: durable and smooth on the water even in windy/choppy conditions) Highly recommended
