Description

The Lib tech X Lost Puddle Jumper HP surfboard.

The Puddle Jumper HP (high performance) is the more performance oriented cousin of the legendary Puddle Jumper groveller. The PJHP has been slimmed down and refined, the nose has been pulled in and the wide point brought back and a narrower more tucked in tail completes the outline changes to this performance Puddle Jumper. This refined outline enables the PJHP to perform more akin to a regular shortboard; a playful and easy paddling 'go-to' every-day board that'll thrive in 90% of the conditions most of us encounter at home and on our travels.

The PJHP will take your small wave surfing to the next level. Stomp on the tail and go-to-town; fast, fun and capable of really snappy surfing while still gliding over weaker sections with speed and drive.

Could surfboard construction Nirvana actually be here?

As surfers we've all dreamed about owning a high performance surfboard with all the positive attributes of a traditional PU board but with none of the inherent fragility that comes with this construction.

Lib Tech are about to change everything you know about surfboards and everything you thought was possible in surfboard construction.

The PJ HP is now built in the exciting new lighter, stronger, ultra-responsive high performance Techno Pop Construction, a more responsive feel, better flex and happier surfers all round. Using 31 brand-new components to the surf industry and calling on 30 years of experience constructing environmentally friendly surfboards, skateboards and snowboards, it was inevitable that Lib Tech were going to produce some remarkable surfboards using this ground breaking, environmentally friendly manufacturing process. Each of the Lib Tech surfboards is handcrafted in the USA with an unwavering focus on building THE toughest high performance surfboards in the world with a commitment to operating in an environmentally responsible manner.

The construction process uses a Nitrogen cell Foam (25-40% recycled content) core for maximum strength and pop. The foam is closed cell, completely waterproof and won't absorb water.
Hexzylon Fibre Foam Skin, this is a smooth, strong, impact and ding resistant layer with the signature Hex pattern.
Next comes the unique Woven Basalt Fibre which is additive free super strong and resists heel dents.
The Bio-Matrix Resin is super strong and environmentally friendly with the best flex qualities of traditional PU and a longer lifespan than Epoxy.

Lib Tech surfboards are fitted with the lightest and toughest fin boxes on the market. They also use Sprock Blocks at the tail to add even more durability to the most fragile areas on the board. Even the leash plug has been given the same attention with 6061 T6 Aircraft aluminium pins and lightweight fibre composite cups.

Look out for a new innovation too, the BRB, Bottle Rocket Rails are the latest innovation, made from recylced polythene bottles this new feature guarantees smooth riding and brings improved impact resistance. "Since I first saw Lib Tech’s ECO ISO construction, I wanted to build a board with it. The strength to weight ratio, eco minded materials and techniques, and the fact that this tech was being built in the USA was incredibly interesting to me. I am stoked that the time has finally come and hope people enjoy riding them as we have enjoyed building them." - Matt Biolos

Love it
Just had my first session on this. I’m 39, 5’11” and 220lb. This board is perfect for paddling and definitely caught more waves then with my short boards. I bought this as an everyday board and for traveling as the libtech should hold up from dings better. I borrowed my friends 5’11” PJ original and found it was slightly easier to get into waves earlier then this but this paddles better and is much more maneuverable on wave. I’m very happy with this board that was recommended. Yewww!

A keeper...
I was a bit worried about the general 'pointyness' and 'shortboardyness' when i unwrapped it, but it paddles as well as my midlength and has a really early entry compared to other shorterboards i have ridden

I went with a 6,2, which floats my middle aged lardy arse well. It turns really responsively, and i am finally getting the nose pointing skyward(ish) The board is super quick after a pump or two, but have set up as twin with a large trailer (machado blackstix) , which gives it loads of control and pivot. It also has a decent amount of weight which means it works in south coast chop. The construction seems rock solid, which is good as im a clumsy oaf and surf on a pebble beach. This one is definately a keeper...

Great board & great service
Top board - picks up waves for fun and still behaves like a shortboard. Perfect for boosting your wave count in smaller summer swells. Big thank you to Boardshop - flawless service again.

Great
I got the 5'6. 1st surf i stuck small fins in it, thinking it would be similar in stiffness to my 5'3 puddle jumper - nope, I was sliding all over the place and the turning radius was about that of a 5p piece, rad but not what I was after... 2nd surf I put medium fins in it and the thing flew in like 1-3ft clean bowly beachy waves, paddles like a groveller, surf lovely and loose, almost like a hp board. Have surfed it in a range of waves from 1-4ft choppy and clean and im very happy with the purchase.

Amazing board and service
Bought the puddle jumper after a conversation with the experts at Boardshop. A very wise choice as after surfing the board for the first time I was impressed by how this board paddled and surfed. Set it up with 3 fins and the board turned so well. Excellent board and service from Boardshop would recommend.

Great board
I am a 75kg intermediate surfer and was looking for something a bit shorter then my current 6'6 Channel Islands Pod Mod. I tried a few boards out and am really glad I went with this. I have the 5'10 and it is easy to paddle into waves but feels great when you are on the wave, really fast and stable but also easy to turn. I had assumed the fin box was an FCS II fin box but it is actually a Lib-Tech box which is FCS I & II compatible. The first time I put the fins in I was a bit worried as the hole you slot them in is much longer than the fin tabs. However, I haven't noticed any difference when I surf it.

Great Board
This is probably one of the best boards I ever had, easy paddling, smooth, very responsive and a lot of speed. It works really well in mushy, small and even when you get bigger and better waves.
I'm 1.86 meters and 80kg and the 5'9 is great for me, I use it more in small and weaker waves.
Boardshop also provided a great service and delivery.

The ideal board for daily surf in UK
I've been looking for a board for UK conditions which will cover it all. From waist high through to Winter chunk. This has been my go to board for Woolacombe over the Winter and into the Spring. Great float due to the width under the chest. However, with its super thinned out tail and vee behind the fins. It really does get vertical. Use the RRIPS fins and pull them
all the at back for drive. If not then ride it as a quad, especially with the old Stretch F4 quads from way back. Plus it's tough as hell. No dents, dings or any sign of use. Great board and a welcome addition into the quiver.

Excellent board and excellent service
After emailing boardshop, Matt recommended me this board in a 6'0.

The first surf I took the board out in was around waist high and a little gutless, but was amazed at how easy it paddled into waves and was still super manoeuvrable on the wave. I've surfed it a few times now in waist to chest high waves and have had a massive smile on my face every time. The board is so much fun to ride.

Also I cannot fault the advice and service from Boardshop. They have been excellent every time I've used them.

Amazed how easy it paddled into waves
Easy to duck dive
Turns easy on waves
