Description

The Firewire X Wingnut Noserider 9ft 8 longboard.

This has to be one of the most exciting collaborations to hit the world of longboard surfing. Robert 'Wingnut' Weaver is one of the worlds most stylish and accomplished longboarders and a standout of his generation. This long-term hook-up will enhance Firewire's longboard line-up which is currently headed-up by two times World Longboard Champion Taylor Jensen. Wingnut has spent the last 20 years since starring in the iconic movie 'Endless Summer 2", travelling the globe, chasing surf and sun from the Far East to South and Central America.

Firewire's head honcho Mark Price said "We pride ourselves in building the very best surfboards that we can, "so when one of the most influential longboarders ever chose to ride designs built in one of our technologies, it was a big deal for us".

The Firewire X Wingnut Noserider longboard melds the key qualities of Wingnut's original model and the Mark Martinson Model. The Wingnut Noserider has a single fin box and traditional tail block, it's had the tail pulled in and the rails softened creating a traditional, smooth turning longboard that loves to cutback with plenty of control and as the name would suggest is nice and stable platform for nose riding.

The Wingnut Noserider has been commissioned in using Firewire's exclusive TimberTek construction, a combination of a lightweight EPS core with sustainably-grown and sourced Paulownia wood deck skins. The unique Firewire parabolic rail technology and the use of a bio-resin hot coat create an astonishingly lightweight and durable board. The pleasing traditional appeal of a timber laminate along with the signature and performance flex characteristics of Firewire’s technologies is surely the Holy Grail for the modern longboarder wanting performance and a beautiful looking surfboard.

Wingnut is a huge fan of the TT Technology, he said, "I have been a fan of Firewire’s Timbertek technology since it was first released and I am looking forward to having my favourite shapes available soon. The way the EPS core and Paulownia wood deck-skins enhance the momentum of the board is just amazing".

Purchased 9ft 0 Wingnut Noserider
I have purchased and received my board swiftly and very well packed, and she is an absolute beauty!! Unfortunately it is not possible to go for a paddle during these trying times, but i am sure the board will be everything I expect. I will do a review once I've tried her, so watch this space! I must also mention the Boardshop and staff, a pleasure to deal with and very efficient. Thanks everybody.

i am so pleased with the 9ft 8 it turns and trims so well , ive had a few wood boards , but this is so light compared to the other barn doors ive had ,im a sit out the back sort of rider ,and this allows me to catch the swell coming in every time , am thinking about getting the 8 footer for those bigger days ? great guys to deal with to boot ,

Old style with a contemporary twist - Phil Edwards meets CJ Nelson
Those interested in the history of modern surfing will know the huge influence that Phil Edwards had. He dominated mid-1960s hotdogging with a powerful but smooth style with the best cutback in the business. Wingnut's Noserider has its roots in Phil Edwards' boards, updated by another hotdogging legend Mark Martinson and further refined by FireWire who produce boards that strive to be the most ecologically-sensitive on the international market.
The Noserider offers the smoothest ride imaginable in anything from ankle-snappers to head-high waves. The extra volume throughout makes the board easy to knee paddle, smooth on takeoff and stable through sections. Generous width in the nose makes it easier to find tip time. The board is not at all clunky but glides. Use a relatively deep fin for effortless cutbacks. What I love about this board is that it is forgiving if you are slightly out of sync and can be ridden by any level of surfer, but handles beautifully for expert loggers because it is lively enough to not bog like heavier boards. This board has a lot of tradition behind it and a lot of careful thinking has gone into its design. Loggers will love it and can be proud of riding equipment that doesn't degrade the planet.
