Product Details

The Firewire Timbertek Baked Potato surfboard offers the same small wave performance as the Sweet P with a few subtle design adjustments. The nose is pulled in slightly and some of the rail volume has been removed to allow for even faster rail to rail transfers. The Baked Potato has the same aggressive double concaves and 'V-spline' running down the centre of the board which allows the board to get up on the rail much faster than the overall design would indicate.

Primarily designed for smaller, weaker conditions, the BP will surprise you by its performance characteristics, and how the quad fins set further back and closer to the rail than usual, allow the board to hold with- out sliding, even in larger surf.

TIMBERTEK represents a huge step forward towards the holy grail of any product designed and manufactured in today's environmentally conscious world. While by no means 'carbon neutral' or sustainably built, Firewire's TIMBERTEK has by far one of the least toxic and smallest carbon footprints of any commercially produced surfboards today.

Grant Newby, a talented Ozzy craftsman first turned us on to the potential of this construction, and following his lead, our Firewire R&D and production team worked tirelessly to make this tech a reality in a production setting. Building one-offs or small quantities is one thing (and not to be discounted), but it took a huge effort to overcome all the technical problems that became apparent as we tweaked the original recipe to increase performance and build reasonable quantities. Of course having our own vertical factory was a huge help.

The combination of a lightweight EPS core, sustainably-grown timber deck skins, Firewire's legendary parabolic rail construction, and an Entropy bio-resin hot coat give an extremely lightweight and durable surfboard with ALL of the high performance flex traits of Firewire's existing technologies. Even more impressive, this tech has lead to a significant reduction in exterior lamination significantly further educing the boards carbon footprint. TIMBERTEK, it's simply High Performance Art!

Love it!
Love the Board!!! Works very good good for me in smaller Waves 3-5 ft. If its get bigger you need enough power to hold it while duck diving... depending on the size of you and your board. I am 6ft2 and 100kg
my wave count has gone through the roof, I just don’t want to get out of the water
Getting the board delivered on my birthday (having only ordered it the day before) was great, i have surfed it for the last four days solid and it’s amazing; what a board! Really got me going again & loving surfing it. So stable, my wave count has gone through the roof, I just don’t want to get out of the water!
Great board, fast and loose.
First surf was in 4ft and clean waves at my local. Took a little bit of getting used to. Mainly as the board is much shorter than I have ridden before. However, once up she flew. Had it set up with a set of PC7 quads as I'm a big lad and it felt super easy to turn from tail to rail but held in well. Next day was 1-2 ft and clean and it went well again.
Love it so far but need more time on it to get settled.
Must just say the customer service from Roger and the team has been brilliant.
It's one of those boards that just makes you smile.
I purchased the 5'5 BP for small days. I'm 75kg, 5'11" and intermediate. So, at 36 litres this was right up at the upper end of my volume range (everyday board = 32l). Because of this, I worried that it would be a pig to duck-dive, but I needn't have worried. Surprisingly, it ducks as easily as my other boards that have considerably less volume. So, I'm very happy about that! How does it ride? Well, it really is superb! So far I have taken it out twice in two weeks. First on a super clean, lined up, long period, small (waist/chest high) day. It took me a little while to dial in on the shape and feel of the board, but it was responsive and quick. The second time I took it out, the waves were fairly powerful, a little bumpy and probably head high on the sets. It absolutely flew and I probably had my best surf that I can remember for a long time! The board was super quick, and very responsive - you can really feel the spine on the hull doing its thing, enabling you to go rail to rail and be snappy. It was an easy paddler, great for getting into waves early and a forgiving ride. I felt I had to grab the rail a few times to keep it from sliding, but that was part of the fun. I had a quad set up the first time and added a nubster for the second time, which provided a bit more control. I think I will be riding this board most of the time from now on. It's one of those boards that just makes you smile.
I decided to buy from Boardshop.com because of their 30 day rideout promise, in case I had got the wrong volume or board (was either this or a Lost puddle jumper). I needn't have worried. The board was spot on - but nice to have that option just in case. I also got a great price on it through a price match, and will definitely be using boardshop to grow the collection.
Great board !
I have a 5'9 TT Baked Potato for a few months and i have to admit that the board goes insane in very small waves. From 1 foot wave to head high the board will not let you down. Fast and yet forgiving for such a small board. It's one of the best board i ever ride. I'm 6'2 and 86 kg. Thanks Boardshop for the advice. Go for it !
I wanted a board that would work well in small
I wanted a board that would work well in small summertime (or weak surf) which is why I went for this Baked Potato. It was the best choice I could have made! Very buoyant and easy to paddle like a Mal, but once you're up and riding it performs like a shortboard. I've just got back from Fuerteventura, which had typical small August surf. I caught everything I paddled for- from knee high to shoulder high. Plus- it's so damn maneuverable!!! Rail to rail with ease! It really took me by surprise! Such a fun board and worth the investment. Check out Firewire's volume calculator on their website and order yourself the correct size for you. You won't be disappointed! I can't rate this board highly enough!
Amazing board. So much fun in smaller stuff, when you
Amazing board. So much fun in smaller stuff, when you might consider not going in. Fast and loose with am2 fronts and controller rears. Also goes really well in head high surf. 5.7 85 Kilo.
