Product Details

The Firewire LFT Go Fish surfboard has been heralded as "the most anticipated LFT shape of 2017", which is eminantly plausable when you set eyes on this latest Rob Machado signature model. Amusingly John Curry, Firewire's customer service head honcho says "When it comes to LFT, If a phone rings or an inbox dings, it’s probably someone asking about a Go Fish."

The Go Fish has a familiar outline with a nice wide area under the front foot and a pretty flat rocker, the tail is a little narrower in comparison to a tradtional keel fish, but Rob's bottom contours are way out there!

Slipped under the arm the Go Fish feels like it's going to be fun, a wave catcher no question but an unknown quantity with the radical concave/channels that define the board. Any concerns over the boards ability have been put-to-bed with the release of the addictive Hurley edit of Rob carving his way through some head-high glass and pulling off a snappy top-turn normally only acheivable on a modern HPSB with three fins!

The Go Fish won't replace your regular shortboard, it probably won't make your groveller redundant, but it will definately add another dimension to your quiver. Rob describes new "on wave" sensations, "it becomes more of this new feeling. This new excitement. And you’re just like woah, I can’t do what I did on my thruster, but I can do this. And it changes your line, your approach, the feel… You kind of dance around with… well… How far can I push it?"

Good surfers will love the smaller sizes and intermediate or older/less fit guys will relish the wider and more voluminous larger sizes.

Linear Flex Technology (LFT) replaces the Rapidfire internal carbon rods with an 18mm wide composite Springer HD Suspension System that runs from nose to tail and includes a top-deck sheet to improve compression resistance. This high density insert creates additional strength through the centre with increased flex through the tail. The EPS top sheet buffer above the HD Springer allows for some compression but without the raised ridge and cracking that can occur with traditional wooden stringer surfboards. LFT delivers plenty of 'TWANG' in and out of your turns and creates the fast-twitch flex response that gives the surfer the feedback and return desired. LFT at last brings the perfect blend of a brand-new traditional PU 'board feel' with the added durability of modern sandwich construction.

A flying fish
Took my Go Fish out twice now. Once the board gets up to speed it just flies down the line. So much speed to burn. Easily thrown around and loves to be pushed into a cuttie. All in all I think it is a brilliant piece of equipment. Super interested how it will hold up in somewhat bigger and more powerful surf. So far surfed it in 3-4 ft beach breaks. If it doesn't go all squirrelly in more powerful surf it could be a great all rounder. I bought it to replace my Lost.. RNF that was 11 years old and it does the job. Same easy paddle, catches waves like a charm and super fun and flowy surfboard. Doesn't have that skaty feel my RNF has. Which I prefer. More solid arcs and more drive.

Going to be my go to board for a while. Thanks David and Ian!!
Sooooo much fun
Took it out last weekend after advice from these guys. Really really.....really happy!!!

The waves were very poor and closing out, the bigger sets were dumping so decides to just try and chase the dump! It held up very well.
Takes off dead easy, quick take off, really quick take off.

Didnt get the chance to try to throw it around but it was loose enough to tell that on a clean set it will do well through the sections.

Cant wait for next weekend now!!

Service was great! And spot on advice!

Love it

Bring on september!!!!
Good board when you get used to it.
I have ridden it a couple of times, I had the dilemma of whether to go for 5'7 or 5'9, I decided to go with the 5'9" which is my grovel litres (33) and I haven't regretted it so far, I stuck on some Futures K1 keel fins. First I was surprised how pointy the board is, it paddles well in weak UK waves, on a wave this board has good speed! the balance takes a while to get used to as the tail is very thin and the front has most of the foam, the board is very forgiving and feels light and glides effortlessly, these fin's feel good (very precise). once you get the right flow it goes very well.
