Description

The FCS II Modern Keel PG Twin Fins designed for traditional Twinnys and modern twin fin fish designs.

This is a nice upright keel template with a lower sweep (rake) than most conventional wider based keel fins, allowing it pivot in a really tight radius. As with all keel fins the Modern Keel has a large area creating drive and loads of speed and a really controlled feeling when executing big roundhouse cuttys on the open face of the wave.

Construction: Performance Glass - (PG) which has an almost identical flex pattern to traditional fibreglass Fins, with a stiff base and a responsive tip flex.

Fins
My son loves these fins I purchased for him, fast and well worth the money he said. They look much more expensive than they are. Thanks Boardshop!

FCS2 modern keel fins.
These are well worth the money...I ride twin fins 80% of the time and these add a bit more drive compared to my MR set. I'm trying them on my Midas next and confident that they'll add a bit extra to an already brilliant board.

Fast yet loose
I tried these as an experiment on my 5'10 Puddle Jumper instead of my usual Thruster or Quad Performer set (Size Medium, I'm around 73kg and 1,80m). The waves were far from ideal for a twinnie but I couldn't wait so I paddled out on a 1.5m steep and fast 7Bft storm swell.

They handled the bottomturns after a steep drop quite well and held on great, not as slippery as I'm used from a more retro-twin keel. Although I had a spin-out once or twice during this session... I think this is because they are a bit taller than a retro-twin shape. After the first bottom turn they felt loose but not too slippery and helped with generating more than enough speed, which is because of the more upright design. When compared to my Quad setup the turning point was a bit different than I was used to and a bit less sharp but that's fine by me. I felt like I needed to use a bit more space on the wave to make my turns.

I tried them on a wide tailed Puddle Jumper (but it's thinned out and has quite a lot of vee) which isn't nearly as wide as an Mini-Simmons but around as wide as an average Fishtail so these fins will probably work with any big wide tail or fishtail board that has a good double concave/vee in the rear as long as you don't want to surf it as extreme as you would normally.

If they work half as good as they did today on a cleaner face and longer line I'm more than happy with them. I think I'll be surfing these more than my Performer M Thruster or Quad in the future.
