Description

The Lib tech X Lost Puddle Fish surfboard has arrived!

Could surfboard construction Nirvana actually be here?

As surfers we've all dreamed about owning a high performance surfboard with all the positive attributes of a traditional PU board but with none of the inherent fragility that comes with this construction.

Lib Tech are about to change everything you know about surfboards and everything you thought was possible in surfboard construction.

Using 31 brand-new components to the surf industry and calling on 30 years of experience constructing environmentally friendly surfboards, skateboards and snowboards, it was inevitable that Lib Tech were going to produce some remarkable surfboards using this ground breaking, environmentally friendly manufacturing process. Each of the Lib Tech surfboards is handcrafted in the USA with an unwavering focus on building THE toughest high performance surfboards in the world with a commitment to operating in an environmentally responsible manner.

The construction process uses a Nitrogen cell Foam (25-40% recycled content) core for maximum strength and pop. The foam is closed cell, completely waterproof and won't absorb water.
Hexzylon Fibre Foam Skin, this is a smooth, strong, impact and ding resistant layer with the signature Hex pattern.
Next comes the unique Woven Basalt Fibre which is additive free super strong and resists heel dents.
The Bio-Matrix Resin is super strong and environmentally friendly with the best flex qualities of traditional PU and a longer lifespan than Epoxy.

Lib Tech surfboards are fitted with the lightest and toughest fin boxes on the market. They also use Sprock Blocks at the tail to add even more durability to the most fragile areas on the board. Even the leash plug has been given the same attention with 6061 T6 Aircraft aluminium pins and lightweight fibre composite cups.

"Since I first saw Lib Tech’s ECO ISO construction, I wanted to build a board with it. The strength to weight ratio, eco minded materials and techniques, and the fact that this tech was being built in the USA was incredibly interesting to me. I am stoked that the time has finally come and hope people enjoy riding them as we have enjoyed building them." – Matt Biolos

The Lost Puddle Fish surfboard by Matt Biolos was added to the Mayhem quiver after an extended period of flatness and small waves. The Puddle Fish has all the small wave ability of its predecessor the Puddle Jumper but with an injection of blistering speed and chuckability. The most obvious tweak to the original PJ is the inverted swallow tail set into a widened and squared off tail with a pronounced channel sitting inside the double concave vee delivering eye-watering speed and release. Less obvious changes to the original PJ include the wide point pushed a fraction further forward and the straightened rail line between the foot placements, both of which assist the board with more down-the-line speed and its ability to negotiate flat sections and mush. Matt set out to create a board with the dialled in speed of a alternative/retro Fish but without the sometimes limiting ability to snap turns in average surf, and stay in the pocket/critical part of the wave.

What a fantastic little board
I’m running it as a quad and it’ feels really lively and loose. Catches waves nice and easy with the extra volume but still able to duck dive with ease

Paddles well, easy to duck dive and catches loads.
I've purchased a magic board.
The puddle fish is the most lively board ive ever ridden, paddles well, easy to duck dive and catches loads.
I've been riding it as a thruster until the fins arrive, and it's great. Pivots well and slow enough for in the pocket, even when it's well overhead.
Kind regards and many thanks from Croyde

Awesome fish, awesome colab and awesome service
What a board! From progressing from a minimal this board put a massive smile on the face! Really fast with plenty of volume to catch the local waves. Together with the recommended fins this board rips.
Big up to the guys at Boardshop, these guys are great to deal with, friendly and very knowledgable ... see you on the water :)

Fish Speed with thruster control
I am a massive fan of the Lost Puddle Jumper boards, having had the original Puddle Jumper and round pin version. Got to say after 6 months of surfing the Puddle Fish, it may well be my favourite board in the puddle jumper family to date. Really stoked on this one! Feels like the best wave catcher in the range, also with the best speed and control in waves under head high. In both knee high slop and decent lined up waves the speed is out of this world. Think Lost have got it right with this one all the speed of a fish, or twin fin, without any awkward feeling. Paired mine with the FCS II MB Split Keel Quad fins - a match made in heaven so far. Thanks Boardhop, I may have looked past this one without the advice.
