Firewire Timbertek Double Agent Surfboard - Natural

The Firewire Double Agent surfboard is a new board from the Firewire surfboard range for Spring 2014. This version of the board is in the Timbertek construction.

The Double Agent is aimed at surfers with a wide range of abilities from low level intermediate to high level performer. The Double Agent combines low rocker with a thinned down tail whilst maintaining the volume under the chest to keep your wave count up. These features combined with a full length double barrel concave gives the board a very sensitive feel when surfing more on the front foot. You can really push the Double Agent from rail to rail because of the thinned down rails through the back half of the board and the spine the board has as a result of the concaves. Dan Mann was looking to combine the speed and performance of the double barrel concave used through the tail of boards like the Sweet Potato and the great performance turns that skimboards pull off with really thin boards, the result is the Double Agent. This board fits in the Firewire range above the Potato range of boards and if you love those boards but want more performance and to be able to push your turns harder in knee to shoulder high surf then have a good look at the Double Agent. A performance groveller might be one way of looking at this board.

TIMBERTEK represents a huge step forward towards the holy grail of any product designed and manufactured in today's environmentally conscious world. While by no means 'carbon neutral' or sustainably built, Firewire's TIMBERTEK has by far one of the least toxic and smallest carbon footprints of any commercially produced surfboards today.

Grant Newby, a talented Ozzy craftsman first turned us on to the potential of this construction, and following his lead, our Firewire "R and D" production team worked tirelessly to make this tech a reality in a production setting. Building one-offs or small quantities is one thing (and not to be discounted), but it took a huge effort to overcome all the technical problems that became apparent as we tweaked the original recipe to increase performance and build reasonable quantities. Of course having our own vertical factory was a huge help.

The combination of a lightweight EPS core, sustainably-grown timber deck skins, Firewire's legendary parabolic rail construction, and an Entropy bio-resin hot coat give an extremely lightweight and durable surfboard with ALL of the high performance flex traits of Firewire's existing technologies. Even more impressive, the physical properties of the raw materials involved have allowed us to completely dispense with the exterior fibreglass, furthering the reduction of the board’s carbon footprint. TIMBERTEK, it's simply High Performance Art!
