I have to confess to being a little unsure about the ADDvance when it first arrived at Boardshop a few years ago. Having had the opportunity to test ride a 6ft 6 ADDvance last summer in some chest-high, walling Woolacombe waves, I'm converted! This easy paddling voluminous surfboard performed way beyond my expectations. Wave catching was as easy as a longboard or mini mal and once up and riding the tightly pulled in tail gives the ADDvance a lovely loose feel. I think I was in the water for a couple of hours and caught more waves than a man of my years ought, and this was confirmed when I was approached back at the car by a guy and his wife intrigued to know what I was riding and how I was catching so many waves.

The ADDvance is a very versatile surfboard and will put a smile on anybody's face who gives it a go. If you're looking for your first serious board after a foamy or a mini mal the ADDvance is a very sound 'step-up'. It still packs plenty of foam and paddles and catches waves like a much longer board, and will encourage you to start executing 'proper' turns and cutbacks.

The ADDvance has a keen following from longboarders looking for a shorter more manageable board when the surf is bigger or just keen to ride something a little more 'short-boardy'. Older guys love the Addvance's forgiving nature and easy paddle especially if they are returning to surfing after a break.
