The Channel Islands New Flyer surfboard by Al Merrick. Back in 1999, Al designed the Flyer, revolutionizing high performance surfing in small waves. Channel Islands have revamped and modernized the Flyer into a shorter and wider template. This new shape allows for the same volume but with a shorter contemporary rail line. Al kept the forgiving 2-stage rocker and added spiral vee starting up front of the fins to allow for rapid rail-to-rail speed. The signature Merrick hip provides a pivot point for tight turns in pockety waves.

The Flyer goes with a little more foam than your regular shortboard with a smooth and sleek template, the perfect board for attacking your home break when the beach is knee deep in appreceiative summer crowds. We're not all blessed with perfect overhead barrels every day of the week, so having a little extra width and a bit more body will keep your turns sharp and stop you getting 'bogged down' even when its a couple of foot and onshore.

Al suggests ordering your 'New Flyer' approximatley 2" to 4" shorter than your height.
