The improvements in materials have allowed designers to add more features while reducing the weight. Most bindings are made from heavy duty plastic with a high back design and dual strap ratchet system. There are a number of different styles and constructions but the overall design has remained the same, the most recent changes have focused on improving weight, and speed of entry.
Snowboard bindings are one aspect of a vital three stage setup. In order to snowboard comfortably you need a board, boots and the bindings to fix you securely to the board. All the bindings on Boardshop are classed as strap in or strap on bindings. It is important to note the Flow system does provide a different fit and feel. These bindings provide excellent flexibility and manoeuvrability which has made them so popular with snowboarders. The snowboard binding needs to match the boot size or the straps will not tighten correctly. So select a boot and binding size correctly.
Fitting your snowboard bindings to your board is a simple process, most of the top end boards shown on site feature a top sheet guide for finding the right placement. The best option is to put your boots on and place the bindings roughly where you would like to stand you can then move them into a place that is comfortable for you. If you want to master riding switch most people opt for a duck foot style on the snowboard binding. Others prefer a more straightened fit or one foot pointing towards the nose more than another. It is advisable to check that the screws used to hold the binding to the snowboard are tight as they do rattle loose as you twist and strap in and out for lifts. As a general rule the more money you spend the lighter, more comfortable and more adjustment you get, focused around the base plate, straps and back.
