WHAT WE SAY ABOUT THIS PRODUCT
The Lost Sub Scorcher (AKA The Trashcan Lid) "I wanna board for 1ft mush. Something really short n wide, but still a shortboard, something like Danes board" - Kolohe Andino. The challenge was laid down. Starting with an old SD2 We squashed the dimensions to 5ft 5 x 18.63 x 2.13, lowered the entry rocker and shallowed the concave through the center to straighten the rail line (for drive) and make it easier to lay such a wide platform over on a rail. Voila! Our stubbiest shortboard yet, but it still carves like a real board. Kolohe wanted to call it "The Trashcan Lid" because you don't need to go dumpster diving to get one of these! Shaper Matt Biolos reckons you should ride your Sub Scorcher 4-6 inches shorter than your performance shortboard.
Matt Biolos began shaping surfboards at Herbie Fletcher Surf Shop fresh out of high school in 1987. He made his first surfboard at this time and called it a "Ratz Ass" like in "I don't give a .....". His second surfboard was labeled "Mayhem" named after his high school punk band- obviously not taking things very seriously. This name, for better or for worse, stuck. Matt shaped 20 boards the first year. Not too many people were ordering boards from Matt yet, so to make money he continued to sand surfboards and began to paint wild designs on them along adding a handwritten ...LOST wherever he could.
