WHAT WE SAY ABOUT THIS PRODUCT
The Firewire Deviant Futures Fin. Forward fin cant (how the fin tilts in relation to the bottom of the board) is normally set between 6 & 9 degrees, increasing speed through turns & drawing tighter arcs than more upright fins.
The Deviant Fin, developed by Radcor Design Studio & Firewire, applies that same principle to the rear thruster fin. The Deviant automatically adjusts 7 of cant in either direction (14 degrees total range of movement) and noticeably increases speed & responsiveness by reducing rail-to-rail drag, & shortening the turn radius: your board will feel faster & looser. Throughout our testing we felt the benefits of the automatically canted rear fin immediately!
We designed a neutral template for the first release which is very close to a FCS M5 or a Futures FEA outline.
The Deviant Fin is a single rear fin suitable for a thrusters fin set up. Here's what Firewire devotee Chuy Reyna has to say about the Deviant: Here's my take on how it works on a few of my boards.Insane on my 5'8" DOM and Spitfire. Killer on my 5'10" hellfire, Good on my Taj 6'2". Okay on my 6'8" pintail gun. The D- fin works best on wide and thicker boards over a thinner and narrow boards.
In short you want the D-fin on a board that is hard to turn. I feel that the D-fin rides with the speed of a quad fin but hold like a thruster fin set up. which is WAY better on your back hand.
