WHAT WE SAY ABOUT THIS PRODUCT
The Firwire FST V4 offers the same benefits of the Vanguard but with a more conventional outline shape (its the Vanguard you'd take home to meet your parents!). This board will suit the rider wanting to rip the 'Modern Planing Hull' with a little more length.
The MPH (Modern Planing Hull) represents a cutting edge change in the approach to high performance surfboard design, and the Vanguard model is the result of precise mathematical equations and geometry. The hydrodynamic makeup of the V4 and Vanguard opens the door to a boxfresh approach to surfboard design and the art of wave sliding. Inspired by the ridiculous feats of athleticism exhibited by today's top professional surfers, Daniel 'Tomo' Thomson has created a board that equips 21st century surfers with the tools to expand their abilities. Higher speeds, radical wave attack and huge aerial potential are all possible with this highly tuned machine.
The V4 still has all the attributes of the original Vanguard. Ultra parallel lines allow the design to be ridden smaller and narrower than what has been normally considered functional. this is achieved with balanced foam distribution and maintaining ideal rider volume. The unique parallel outline reduces drag, thus increasing the dynamic planing lift and thereby MORE SPEED via less water resistance.
Tail Profile: The radical twin diamond tail gives excellent directional control and extremely low drag. The technical channelled bottom contour helps to maximize speed and control through sharp directional changes.
The rider will experience total freedom and planing speed right form the get go. The very short nature of the design allows the rider to completely dominate the board. The straightened rail line will allow for effortless and precise turns and direct transitions.
Although aimed at high performance shredding, the V4 is a surprisingly easy ride for a wide range of surfers and abilities. It's super stable, naturally fast with very efficient wave catching ability!
The rapid response flex memory in the Future Shapes Technology used in these boards yields great speed through the turns whilst the parabolic rail configuration guarantees 100% return memory for years.
Firewire surfboards feature some very distinct construction traits that set them aside form other boards currently available:
1) parabolic balsa rails
2) dual density EPS and advanced composite core
The parabolic balsa rails flex at the start of a turn storing energy and rebound through the turn releasing built up energy in the form of speed. The spring back of the parabolic rails to the original rocker triggers rapid acceleration, like an arrow shot from a bow. The construction materials, a unique formulation of hi-tech epoxy resins and advanced composites mean that these boards maintain the lively feel you get with brand new polyurethane boards, but are up to 20% lighter and will last 5+ times longer.
This manufacturing process has won environmental awards and has created a range of lightweight and durable custom boards that are quickly being recognised for their awesome performance.
What this all means for surfers is a step forward in the age old trade off of performance versus durability that has traditionally limited polyurethane boards. The nature of the core technology in these boards allows them to rebound in and out of turns with little loss of speed. The secret to improved surfing is maintaining and using this speed to go higher, bigger, longer or whatever does it for you!
Boardshop is stoked to be a key partner for Firewire surfboards across Europe and beyond, we've been with them since the very start.
Firewire surfboards are more durable than other surfboard manufacturing processes, and for 90% of surfers they will improve your surfing. Firewire is pushing the limits of applying new technology and innovation to surfboard design and always has an eye on the environmental impact of what they do, they truly are different to the other board companies out there.
Firewire have come a long way since the early boards and the range of shapes and tech just gets better and better. A big chunk of the boards in the range are perfectly suited to the waves that 90% of us surf on a regular basis so if you haven't already, give them a try. The staff here have surfed pretty much every board in the Firewire range at some time or another and we speak to surfers from all over the world and get their feedback on how the boards perform in all sorts of conditions so we're well placed to talk about all aspects of Firewire surfboards.
We're happy to consider trading in your old board against a new Firewire, so If you have any questions about this we'd be delighted to answer them and advise on any potential board choices or enquiries you might have, just drop us an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or call us on 0044 (0) 1243 674250.
